Chief Economist, New Delhi/Gurgaon


The purpose of this position is to work with other members of the Global Directors Team based in Singapore & London to provide the vision, leadership, technical competence and management required to :

- Lead and participate in task teams delivering integrated lending and analytical products, translating analytical findings into concrete policy dialogue and lending operations

- Producing short term and long term interest rate and general economic forecasting

- Providing forward-looking analysis for capital planning to identify economic and other related trends

- Publishing regular economic analysis commentaries and forecasts of interest rates and key economic factors on a timely basis

- Consulting with various bank departments on economic forecasts, market behavior, and political decisions which may affect their areas.

- Draft work plan including an overview of the proposed method, uncertainty associated with this method, data requirements, dependencies, estimated costs, timeline, milestone, and deliverables.

- Identifying and working with outside economic experts and consultants hired by the counterparts organizations

- Experience in supervision and management of large-scale research projects;

- Ability to collaborate with peers, managers, policymakers and academics

- Presenting relevant economic analysis;

- Carry out pilot valuation projects that implement the conceptual framework

Knowledge/Skills :

- Strategic vision - high level understanding of global economic trends and the opportunities and challenges they present

- Leadership - highly creditable with proven intellectual leadership in economics and a demonstrated understanding of the impact on the financial services sector

- Rigorous analytics - ability to undertake, oversee and guide research and analyze economic issues

- Communication - clear and convincing communicator of ideas in writing and in person, and ability to defend and explain difficult and complex issues with respect to key decisions and positions

- Sound management - the ability to develop the potential of individuals and teams through inspired, fair and respectful management

Experience :

- Masters Degree in Economics or related relevant field (required)

- PhD in Economics or related relevant field (desirable)

- The successful candidate will have more than fifteen years of professional economic research experience or other relevant experience in national/international organizations or academic institutions, with a proven substantive (research and publication) track record
