1. JOB PURPOSE :

To be responsible as a key member of the legal department of the company for the efficient management of the Legal function, provide legal advisory services and ensure effective mitigation of legal and statutory compliance risks.

2. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES :

a. Statutory Compliance Management

- Assisting identification, preparation and updation of applicable statutes to the company

- Prepare statutory compliance grid providing detail requirements along with their periodicity and due date for compliance

- Maintain and operate electronic legal compliance management system for tracking compliance status and preparation of update

- Prepare legal compliance MIS and Presentation

- To advise the respective Division and/or Office on statutory/Regulatory Compliances and interact with Statutory and/or Regulatory Authorities for resolution of issues

- Conducting onsite assessment of compliances and help business teams comply with the applicable laws

- Creation of awareness of applicable and new compliances and conducting training sessions for business teams

- Identification and Mitigation of legal and business risks plan

b. IPR management, Agency Contracts and Power of Attorney Management

- Work with the business to ensure protection and preservation of Intellectual Property Rights such as trademarks, copyrights, patents, designs etc of the organisation worldwide

- Managing system of agency contracts and documentation thereof in terms of organisational policies and practices

- Managing delegation of authorities, Power of Attorney for business activities in terms of organisational policies and practices

c. Internal Query Management

- Act as internal legal advisor to Business and work in close coordination with business to understand business facts

- Brief external legal expert on legal issues involving company and obtain their advise

3. SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE :

Educational Qualifications and Experience

- Professional Degree in Law

- 6-8 years of experience in corporate law firms or in the legal department of large manufacturing industries handling Statutory Compliance and Risk Management profiles. Experience of working in power/ engineering project companies, Law/Audit firms of repute will be an added advantage.

Functional Skills :

- Thorough knowledge and experience in management of statutory compliance

- Thorough knowledge and understanding of Corporate, Civil, Criminal, Constitutional and Commercial legal provisions

- Ability to understand business requirements and apply legal provisions appropriately

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- Skills to prepare note for opinion and brief senior counsels

- Ability to withstand pressure and difficult situations

- Strong Managerial Skill

- Inter personal skills to work with multiple businesses and functions
