Centre Head - Startup Village

Startup Village is a new model of learning for the Internet era. We believe that the Internet is a significant game changer for humanity and we are seeing the early days of a massive global revolution. 400 years from now, the world would be known as the pre-internet era and the post Internet era.

Learning as we know in schools and college was institutionalized in the early 18th century with the advent of the industrial age. Thus, schools and college are currently organized just like factories with separate areas and batch production like a factory, which in our opinion is not the best model for entrepreneurial learning.

Startup Village is just like your college/university, but for the Internet era. While a college teaches you engineering, sciences, arts etc, we teach you how to build a startup in the Internet age.

Creating a startup is the perfect mix of science and arts. We believe that there is a process involved in building a startup, similar to the scientifc method. However, just like in arts, even if you know the elements of a great painting, having the same elements may not make the next painting equally great.

We are also of the belief that creating a startup is a lot like going for an adventure sailing in the oceans. You cannot control the winds or the waves and thus the outcome is dependent both on your skills as well as the world around you.

Startup Village is also a unique Public Private Partnership with Government of India as a key partner. Winner of Best Technology Business Incubator at National Technology Day 2015, Startup Village is now scaling across three more locations in India and is looking for Community Heads at these locations. Locations Currently Open are Kochi, Ahmedabad and Vishakapatanam

What you will be doing :

- You will be the face of Startup Village at your State to all the startup teams that become part of the program, continuously interacting and engaging to provide feedback to the startup.(50% of the time)

- Pro-actively work with the central operations team and provide quality feedback based on data from on-the-ground activities (20% of the time)

- Play an active role in the conduct and execution of events and workshop within your centre an outside events under the Startup Village banner (10%)

- Engaging the various stakeholders in the startup ecosystem and provide quality feedback to improve our offerings and keep a proactive communication with the press, potential investors, schools, colleges, government officials etc (10%)

- Engage with the sv.co product team to pass on the learning's and recommendations to improve the overall experience at Startup Village (10%)

What we are looking for :

- 1-4 years of work experience, preferably in consulting, business development or partnership management at an organization.

- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English and ability to clearly articulate ideas and concepts.

- A proven track record of driving new initiatives and cross team collaboration

- Exceptional relationship management and people skills, including with senior leadership in large organizations, and internal stakeholders.

- An entrepreneurial mindset, including a high tolerance for ambiguity, a penchant for experimentation, and a bias towards action.

- A people's person for whom networking and managing a community of people comes naturally. The person would ideally be a connector in college or workplace with a large friends circle.

- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with others and be a strong team player. You take pride in your work while also recognizing and celebrating the contributions of others.

- Should be native of the state, with great communication skills in local language to be effective at the center and in interaction with local stakeholders. We have a preference towards candidates locally from Ahmedabad, Kochi and Vishakapatanam.

- Cultural Fit

- Love for fast paced startup environments edging on a lot of ambiguity and exploration

- Experience in having founded or worked in mobile/internet startups, or in similarly fast-paced environments

- Tech savvy
