Commercial - Strategic business planning - Business budgeting, financial forecasting, monitoring and reporting - Selling-price architecture, margins, stock turns, terminal stock levels - Product development and replacement - Supplier negotiations, product purchasing, and vendor management Merchandise - Product-sourcing and range-building - Assortment-planning, merchandise mix, influencing the width and depth of ranges by product category and location - Awareness of market conditions, trends, prices, and product availability - Establishing and maintaining the availability of a core merchandise proposition plus seasonal must-haves Inventory Management - Create range and sales plans that meet the agreed financial objectives - Stock turn, mark down, terminal stock levels - Ensure adequate width, depth and mix of merchandise at category. store and company level - Trends analysis and demand forecast by product category - Effective use of retail selling space - Take necessary remedial action to ensure achievement of terminal stock, margin and markdown targets Suppliers - Negotiate best merchandise price deals - Establish and maintain agreed quality standards - Ensure effective progress chasing for merchandise from order placement to delivery - Maintain sound effective relationships with all types of vendors
