Category Head - FMCG & Staples - IIT/IIM/ISB/MDI/FMS (8-15 yrs)

Category Head - FMCG and Staples (separate 2 positions) | IIT/IIM/Tier 1 Colleges

Roles and responsibilities:


Strategy & Planning:

- Define and create long term strategy across categories, geographies and customer segments for the staples category for consumers in Tier 2/3/4 towns

- Build ways to have a sharp track of consumer preferences, market and competitors

- Plan & achieve Monthly, Quarterly and Annual targets keeping Org objectives in track Built a playbook for assortment and merchandising for new city launches

- Define the category structure and KPIs across team members as per the organizational and category growth

Growth and P&L Ownership

- Own top line, as well as the bottom line for the categories, drive revenue and margins - Work to reduce Returns, RTOs, Damages & Expiry

- Own selection and assortment and manage inventory levels & cash cycle as per org objectives

- Carry out Annual & Monthly Budgeting

Merchandising & Sell Side

- Plan and execute the merchandising and cataloguing on the platform with topline and bottom-line in track

- Drive & execute monthly calendar for seasonal, occasional and platform level campaigns - Enable discovery and improve conversions, while working on search, navigation and merchandising

- Formulate and execute pricing strategy based on market potential, consumer insights, margins or competitive signals

- Collaborate with product team in designing and executing various products and programs to increase consumer wallet share, penetration and retention

Cross Functional collaborations

- Lead & collaborate in the product development initiatives to build for scale

- Collaborate with stakeholders across supply chain - warehousing, replenishment, last mile to ensure the right handling of the assortment

- Working closely with Network & Growth team, understanding and solving from Community Leader's perspective

Team Building

- Build and groom a strong team for hyper scale, with organizational ethos and culture at the fore

- Define KPIs, set goals and ensure team efficiency towards achieving desired outputs

Skills Required:

We are looking for people with high ownership who can build performance driven teams. Mentor team members in a dynamic and growth led environment to work passionately for a cause. The candidate should have a strong bent for speed and action with data driven inputs and experimentation.

1. Experience of 5-10 years in leading grocery categories with P&L ownership level. Deep existing relationships with brands and manufacturers

2. Strong in analytics, data-driven experimentation and problem solving

3. Assertive with collaborative attitude & experienced in managing a team of mid to senior-level people

4. Experience and knowledge of assortment in multiple geographies is an added advantage 5. Preferred experience of working in high growth startups

6. Understanding consumer behaviour and their needs

7. Graduate / Post Graduate from IIT/IIM/Tier 1 Colleges Preferred
