Chief Technology Officer/Head

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership:

- Provide leadership and accountability for the hospital's information system activities for all entities of the system; improve IT competencies and overall efficiency

- Engage in ongoing communication with senior system executives and the hospital's physician leaders to identify IT products and services that can directly and indirectly improve patient care, operational efficiency, and other major initiatives

- Build and lead a high-performing IT team, providing guidance, mentorship, and professional development opportunities.

Strategy:

- Establish, implement and monitor the IT Strategy to meet both short and long-range goals, objectives, policies and operating procedures

- Develop the information technology business plan; control operational budget and expenditures

- Educate senior management about current and predicted IT technologies, trends, opportunities and threats

- Evaluate costs and future expectations on a ROI basis

Operations:

- Oversee the planning, procurement, and maintenance of IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and end-user devices, to support the hospital's digital initiatives.

- Manage IT vendors, contracts, and budgets to ensure cost-effectiveness and delivery of high-quality IT services.

- Lead the implementation and maintenance of the hospital's HMIS, ensuring data accuracy, security, and ease of access for all stakeholders.

- Implement and manage EHR systems, promoting paperless and interoperable healthcare processes for seamless patient care.

- Develop practices that ensure there is adequate backup, minimum downtime and regular maintenance of the hospitals' IT systems

Innovation:

- Keep abreast of evolving clinical and business priorities and goals to ensure Health IT functions are being provided in a manner consistent with industry best practices

- Develop and convey a clear vision; give a fresh perspective on innovation

Security & Compliance:

- Develop and enforce policy and cybersecurity protocols to ensure the protection of the systems' IT assets and the integrity and privacy of information entrusted to or maintained by the system

- Educate and provide best practices and expertise in all areas of IT, HIMS and data security

- Stay up-to-date with healthcare IT regulations and standards and ensure the hospital's IT systems meet all compliance requirements.

Data:

- Drive the team to build and maintain the hospital's data warehouse and move into strong data analytics

- Utilize data analytics tools to extract valuable insights from healthcare data, driving informed decision-making and continuous improvement in patient care and operations.

- Through experience, knowledge and continuous education, keep executive leadership and the board apprised of the use and scope of data

- Strong written and verbal communication skills required. Display effective communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to collaborate with colleagues, families, carers, etc.

Qualifications & Experience:

- Bachelor degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Management of Information Systems, or related fields required. Masters preferred.

- 8-10 years of experience in a senior leadership role in IT. Employment history must demonstrate increasing levels of responsibility

- Minimum of 8 years of experience in a combination of IT project management,risk management, information security and information technology fields, preferably in healthcare IT.

- Proven experience as a Chief Technology Officer, IT Director, or a similar role in a hospital (Preferred)

- Strong leadership skills with the ability to build and manage a diverse IT team.

- Knowledge of various health care related code sets such as CPT-4, ICD-10/11, LOINC, SNOMED, etc is preferable

- Extensive knowledge of healthcare IT systems, including HMIS, EHR, and PACS.

- Good understanding of the Indian Healthcare system and relevant Indian healthcare IT regulations and standards

- Demonstrate flexibility as situations arise unexpectedly (e.g. cyber attacks, non-responsive server etc)
