Job Title : Buyer
Job Purpose - To ensure Gross Margin and drive revenues for the brand by selection of right products at right price
I spend - 30% of my time preparing the range plan for the season buy for individual stores, based on future trends and competition mapping.
- 30% of my time analyzing data on sale through of each category, store wise and gross margins based on store performance.
- 15% of my time working with supply chain and logistics team to ensure the product has reached intended destinations.
- 15% of my time will be made towards education of the key retail operations stakeholders about the range during a season launch
- 10% support business head in budgets and P&L related tracking
I know I have done a great job if :
- The stores meet\exceed their monthly, quarterly, half yearly & yearly targets.
- The product sale gross margins exceed 50%
- Employees have been able to understand and present the features and benefits of the products to customers.

What is that I need to do : Building a Product Range
- Ensure the budget for buying process is being maintained as per O.T.B
- Make an in-depth range plan based on local customer's needs.
- The range plan should be collaborated with brand's season launch initiatives.
Attaining the Gross Margin targets
- Deciding on the right price for each category
- Configure the brand promotions within the budgeted gross margin targets.
- Optimizing the buying process based on different business channels.
People Development
- Organize the range presentations for key stakeholders and explain features and benefits for increasing customer engagements
- Organize product training in coordination with the training team.
Capabilities :
- Strong understanding of global trends
- Good economic sense with strong budgetary controls.
- Good energy levels - with ability to be involved in multiple tasks and ability to juggle.
- Good analytical skills.
- Effective listening and communications skills - simplify communication with ability to put the point across the board.
- Ability to see the larger picture - ability to zoom in & zoom out.
Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience of handling buying for the respectable multiple store.
Ability to understand and project the right Brand related ingredients
- Self-starter.
- Exceptional communicator and good at interpersonal skills.
