THE COMPANY : - The company is a leading player in the marketing of electrical power distribution and transmission products, lighting solutions and products, lighting control systems and services etc. - The main activities of the company encompass design, engineering, and marketing of Switchgear, Transformer, Busbar & related products. - The company has manufacturing facilities in the Middle East and wishes to set up a procurement and design center in India to create a centralized offshore center for procurement, design and allied functions to achieve a substantial cost advantage. THE JOB - The company is looking for a General Manager / ( business head ) who can set up the center from scratch and run an efficient and compliant operation initially as a cost center later as a P&L center - Setup and management of a world-class cost efficient & compliant procurement & design center - Develop & execute procurement strategies - Design and develop products as per customer requirements - Responsible for all electrical design, quality & cost as per tender/customer requirements - Manage logistics, warehousing, and international & domestic material movement - Implement measures for cost reduction & optimization - Supplier selection, development of alternative suppliers, and supplier consolidation to ensure sourcing optimization and overall supplier performance - Negotiate prices & commercial terms for components/raw materials and related items THE CANDIDATE - Electrical engineer with 20-25 yrs. experience in component procurement, estimation, logistics, material planning, cost saving, risk analysis. - Strong techno-commercial & negotiation skills - Skilled in handling purchase related tasks; analyzing material requirement, preparing cost estimates, procure material and implementing measures for cost reduction especially for TRANSFORMERS - Proven experience in achieving target savings and adherence to schedule. - Expert at structuring procurement procedures, defining SOP and internal controls, strict budgetary control for purchases and variance analysis. - Good understanding of export procedures - Good understanding of the electrical design of switch gears and transformer - Exposure to domestic and international logistics
