Business Head - Cold Chain

This role heads the cold chain business. All functional departmental heads report into this role. This role is at par with Heads of other businesses eg, Express, Contracts Logistics etc

Key Responsibilities:

- Drive the customer acquisition strategy for the warehousing and transportation solutions in the Cold Chain through consultative selling and striking new relationship with the CXOs/MDs and also through nurturing existing customer relationships.

- Responsible to deliver Budgets and P&L with an expected level of gross margin.

- Exponentially grow the topline of the business and ensure profitability by managing the cost of acquisition/servicing and overheads.

- Accountable for new customer acquisition, responding to RFQs, participating in reverse auctions and farming existing customers for increase in share of the business.

Reviewing Accounts Receivables and ensuring timely collections in order to maintain a healthy cash flow.

- Must understand and negotiate a profitable pricing structure and service-level agreement that will increase the company's - share of wallet- in the warehousing and logistics industry.

- Identify and bring in new technologies into the business operations inorder to have control systems through TMS, ERP, GPS tracking, Control tower, reports, processes, MIS and other technology tools required for the business to meet customer expectations.

- Develop and direct the management of the company's remote fulfillment/distribution center that will ensure fast order processing, accurate inventory control, proper and timely receipt/stocking of goods, cost-efficient shipping direct to customers and effective processing of returns.

- Strategizing on cost control measures and ensuring optimal utilization of the fleet to ensure profitability of the business.

- Facilitate operational oversight for multiple functions and identify opportunities for maintaining the most cost-efficient operation.

- Identify operational efficiencies, meet regulatory and client expectations and develop a - best practice- approach to all operations.

- Handling the entire process of on-boarding vendors which includes rate negotiation, contract management, service level monitoring and accounts payable.

- Sourcing vehicles of varying models from multiple market vendors in dry or wet lease contracts to compensate for shortage of fleet.

- Oversee operations for multiple functions for the defined business,including responsibility for profit & loss

- Facilitate operational oversight for multiple functions and identify opportunities for maintaining the most cost-efficient operation

- Identify operational efficiencies, meet regulatory and client expectations and develop a - best practice- approach to all operations

- Meet and exceed requirements including organizational, compliance and contractual agreements

- Assess organizational strengths and weaknesses to recommend an enhanced operating model

- Understand the details of the operations, including all operating standards and service standards. Quickly recognise when a standard is not being met, and coach branch heads and managers how to improve

- Create and oversee systems to ensure quick and efficient service. Build a culture of teamwork in operations and service.

- Collect and analyze quantitative and qualitative operations data to develop initiatives to monitor and improve performance, engagement and customer experience.

- Maintain quality standards in all areas of operational activity and drive sales and profitability through the performance and development teams.

- Assist with and oversee site selection, fit out and opening of new hubs/branches.

- Strategic planning and execution to enhance profitability, productivity and efficiency throughout the company's operations.

- Manage logistics and outbound transportation processes. Implement improved processes and management methods to generate higher ROI and workflow optimization.

- Interact regularly with executive team and individual department heads to ensure that company's operational priorities are aligned with total company direction.

- Continually investigate and introduce process improvement measures and presents suggestions to CEO for consideration.

- Participate in vendor negotiations to ensure product relevance and cost-efficiency.

- The candidate must have a minimum of 20 years of successful track record, at least half of which should be in temperature controlled business environment


Age Range - 45-55 years

Experience Range - 20-30 years

 Qualification : 

 Essential : Graduation-Engineering Preferred

Preferred : Post Graduation in Management

Target CTC : Not a constraint for the right candidate
