Investment Research Analyst

Brescon Ventures is a three decade old investment firm. The firm is focused on running the family office of Mr Nirmal Gangwal, a veteran investment banker, specializing in special situations and turnaround advisory

The role offers its analysts an opportunity to work on investments in public markets. An analyst would be given the responsibility to drive an investment opportunity from ideation to execution.

Responsibilities:

1. Evaluate investment opportunities:

- Screen a set of public companies to analyze based on qualitative and quantitative filters, industry theses and inputs from the team

- Evaluate shortlisted opportunities through primary and secondary research, interactions with the founders and industry experts, analyzing financial and operating metrics and presenting the investment thesis to the PM

2. Industry research: Develop domain expertise on specific sectors / technologies and present findings / investment opportunities to the rest of the team

3. Maintaining financial models of investee and prospective investee companies

What We Seek:

Brescon is looking to bring on a naturally curious analyst with excellent research and analysis skills, be intellectually honest and be able to articulate and defend his/her investment thesis.

1. Qualification: Chartered Accountant

2. Self-motivated individuals who can work with minimal supervision. Having prior experience in equity research in India is preferred.

3. A growth mindset that looks at new challenges as an opportunity. Ability to think using first principles and filter signal from the noise.

3. Independent thinker who is able to challenge ideas through proper primary research

4. Adept at dealing with unstructured situations and comfortable with a job description that is not tightly defined.

5. A candidate who gets along with teams and contributes to making the whole greater than sum of parts.

Position Description - Mumbai

1. Assist a PM in analyzing bottom-up investment opportunities. Looking for 1-2 years of investment experience.

2. Use understanding of excel to build business models. Ability to think using first principles and filter signal from the noise critical.

3. Low churn and long investment horizons are the cornerstones of strategy. Ability to align investment thought process to absolute returns.

4. Proficiency in using multiple data sources to collate and analyze fundamental information in a succinct, coherent way.
