Job Description for Global Markets IT Business Analyst

Experience

- Graduate with at least 4 - 11 years of business analysis experience. (MBA capital markets/Finance preferred)

- Experience preferred in investment banking environment (Trade Workflow/ Settlement/Accounting orientated)

Role

- Capture explicit and implicit requirements and define appropriate solutions, in combination with users, sponsors and the wider IT department

- Produce specifications at an appropriate level of detail for a development team

- Define and execute required tests, which is expected to be a significant part of the role

- Adapt solutions to the constraints of externally imposed deadlines

- Work with other Business Analysts based at Paris/London and with developers

- Communicate progress of activities to management

- Undertake training programs for the IT team

Essential Skills

- A minimum of 4 years of IT business analysis experience

- Good problem solving and analytical skills

- Working knowledge of financial products (e.g. not necessarily all Equity, Foreign Exchange, Bonds, Repo, Swaps, Credit Derivatives, ABS, CMO, Futures and Options) and concepts

- Recent exposure to the trade processing lifecycle (including not necessarily all trading, trade capture, clearing, settlement and accounting) for the above products

- Knowledge of recent industry regulations driven by the Dodd-Frank Act and ESMA-mandate

- Experience of the full software development lifecycle

- Experience with capturing and documenting user requirements, both explicit and implied

- Experience of writing specifications so as to communicate effectively with a development team

- Structured testing experience (write, execute and maintain test plans)

- Working knowledge of SQL and ability to query database for analysis and investigation of issues

- Knowledge of formal project planning and management techniques

- Ability to work in an autonomous fashion with low-levels of management intervention

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Nice to Have

- Work experience in Atlassian JIRA for work management

- Experience working in an Agile team

- Experience of constructing and monitoring formal project plans

- Knowledge of formal software analysis and specification techniques such as state-transition diagrams, workflow diagrams, etc.

- Credible presentation skills, meaning confident public speaking, the ability to abstract or encapsulate information and present it in a way that is appropriate to the needs of different audiences

- Previous experience dealing with and training users from different business areas including Middle Office, Trading, Sales and the Legal and IT departments
