Role

As a Project Manager, the individual will be responsible for application development and management for a core and critical platform in the Primary Markets business of BNP Paribas.

The application has been built using technologies from the Microsoft .NET stack and provides a workflow for the management of the issuance of bonds, medium term notes and certificates.

The Project Manager's role is pivotal to the project and encompasses a number of activities and responsibilities:

- Complete ownership of application development encompassing both new projects as well as maintenance and enhancements work streams

- Communicate with the business in prioritizing requirements, in pro-actively working with business representatives and IT team members within the team and other teams to deliver solutions to the business and in contributing to steering committee meetings by reporting on the progress of development subjects

- Manage a team of highly skilled, dedicated and talented .NET developers, business analysts and testers located mainly in Mumbai

- Plan, track and manage releases, with a commitment to delivering a quality product on schedule, in an agile development environment

- Maintain a product backlog in JIRA, in line with the application roadmap

- Break down requested features into development tasks

- Review architecture, design and technology, listen and be open to alternative proposals and select the best one in the interest of the project.

- Propose/review implementation plans and the technology road map for the platform

- Ensure the provision of third level support from the development team on a rotation basis

- Is expected to guide the team on the right way to do things, explain to them why, be open to ideas from others

- Work with the team to ensure programming standards are maintained and continuously evolved

- Conduct appraisals of team members, provide regular feedback, identify talent and groom juniors

The Candidate

- The successful candidate will justify 9+ years of experience in Microsoft .NET based technologies with proven experience of managing full life cycle projects or applications. They should have significant experience in developing / maintaining and supporting web based applications. Experience in having worked with or having managed a critical application in the capital markets domain will be a distinct advantage.

- The candidate will be a forward thinking individual with a solid practical delivery focus, enthusiastic about technology and finance, proactive, highly motivated, responsible, able and committed to meet deadlines. Being a team player, the candidate will enjoy both sharing knowledge with other members of the team and receiving technical and design recommendations from others.

Above all, the candidate needs to be able to motivate people so that they can perform to their potential and to meet the challenging goals of this dynamic platform and its stakeholders.

Essential Skills

1. Strong project management skills and delivery orientation

2. Proven experience in managing business/IT stakeholders (overseas experience will be an advantage)

3. Very good knowledge and practical experience of C# and the .NET framework

4. Substantial experience in an agile development methodology, with experience of applying such a methodology to real life development projects

5. Excellent problem solving skills, being able to develop approaches to complex technology and strategy problems, building consensus across diverse interest groups
