POSITION SUMMARY

The Marketing and Communications Manager will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive, highly strategic, measurable marketing and communication campaigns tailored to the needs of the blueocean brand. A critical role that will support teams across various functional areas, this position will be responsible for carrying out the strategic marketing plan to achieve revenue and lead generation goals,as well as managing public relations, internal company communications, special events and sales support.

The candidate should have a strong understanding of marketing strategies, excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as solid organizational and project management abilities. Ideally, he/she should also be able to demonstrate cross-collaboration experience, ability to work through ambiguous situations, interpersonal awareness and a high degree of drive and initiative. They should desire to work in a fast-paced, startup-like environment with aggressive growth plans. They need to be flexible to meet organizational and team needs, and excited to take on new challenges.

The position will be based in Bangalore, India and report to the US Marketing and Corporate Communications Manager.

PRIMARY OBJECTIVES

The Marketing and Communications Manager will be responsible for the development and implementation of effective marketing communication campaigns while successfully managing the company’s public relations strategy in India to build buzz and brand awareness, leading to revenue opportunities.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

- Serve as principal lead for assigned marketing campaigns and brand awareness activities

- Manage India-based public relations efforts, including the agency relationship, arranging interviews, writing press releases and monitoring coverage

- Find impactful publicity opportunities through speaking roles, sponsorships and memberships

- Recommend creative and cost-effective marketing strategies for inclusion in yearly plan

- Work collaboratively with the Digital Marketing Manager and provide updated information on any relevant marketing activities for both the website and social media channels

- Maximize marketing effectiveness and efficiency by gathering and disseminating best practices, procedures and objectives

- Monitor marketing expenses, results, and other important metrics

- Provide writing support for all internal and external communications

- Review and edit promotional materials for marketing effectiveness and adherence to brand guidelines

- Assist with research initiatives including target market research, collecting demographic information or analyzing competitors

- Allocate funds and supportclient development activities where strategy and goals reflect the proper vision and strategic position

- Maintain Customer Relationship Management (CRM) database for targeted campaign use and pre-sales activities

- Plan and coordinate India-based corporate social responsibility initiatives, cause-related marketing and other special events

- Supervise agencies, vendors and contractors as needed

- Build collaborative, consultative relationships across the organization

- Assist the various business units to meet their objectives, live the values and culture, and be a role model for departmental policies

- Executive miscellaneous or administrative projects as assigned

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

- University degree with marketing, business, communications or journalism focus

- Minimum of eight years of experience in marketing and communications leadership role

- Five year plus experience managing agencies, vendors or contractors

- Extensive experience in all aspects of developing and maintaining marketing strategies to meet organizational objectives

- Proven ability to design, develop and implement both strategic programs and supporting tactics

- Outstanding creativity, writing, editing and proofreading skills

- Ability to quickly grasp complex technical and business concepts and express them in clear language

- Strong project management skills with demonstrated ability to multi-task and set priorities within tight timelines and with high expectations

- Ability to think outside the box, operate within set budgets and respond well to change

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively as a member of the marketing team and cross-functional teams

- Enthusiasm and willingness to assume responsibility- either as a leader, strategic contributor or tactical implementer - in a lean organization with limited support infrastructure

- Must be able to work with limited supervision and self-described self-starter

- Start-up, business-to-business and/or global team exposure preferred

- Basic working knowledge of leading social media channels required (LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter)

- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite; Salesforce and Adobe In Design experience a plus

COMPENSATION

Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
