Assistant Manager - Data Science

SUMMARY OF THE POSITION:

We are looking for Data Scientist 1 to join our rapidly growing team to solve data-driven critical business problems. The person in this role will be responsible for developing and supporting optimization applications of multiple products. The person in this role will collaborate with Business Analysts, developers/architects in designing mathematical optimization-based solutions and integrating them into software products. This also involves designing algorithms to solve many supply chain optimization use-cases. The right candidate should have hands-on experience in developing optimization models and good knowledge in Operations Research.

A Day in The Life Could Include:

- Work with business teams (Growth & Strategy, Planning teams) to better understand the business problem.

- Think through a business problem and come up with a set of hypotheses.

- Create a list of potentially relevant supporting data.

- Propose modeling approaches.

- Ensuring the accuracy of the existing running model and making relevant changes in code set/ model, on a need basis.

- Mine the data to check completeness, value distributions, etc.

- Test models for quality and scalability.

- Write technical specifications for change requests and drive the same through IT Partner

- Collaborate with business teams to find the best way to present the results.

- Establish SLAs for end user response to the issues faced on planning and forecasting input and outputs.

Required Skills:

- Technical Skills:

- Excellent in Data Science Knowledge (Python & its libraries, SQL)

- Experience with commercial (preferably Gurobi) and free/open source (GLPK, CBC, pyscip) solvers.

- Hands on experience in statistical analysis, data mining and predictive modeling

- Ability to apply analytics/statistical methodologies to identify value to add to the business.

- Mathematical programming such as Linear/Non-Linear Programming, Mixed Integer Programming, Metaheuristic techniques and Stochastic modelling.

- Familiarity with data mining algorithms and machine learning techniques (regression, decision trees, probability networks, association rules, clustering, neural networks, Bayesian models) is required.

- Experience of Microsoft Azure environment, Docker & Kubernetes is preferred.

- Database Management, Data Explorer analysis & Data analytics

- Working knowledge on data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI

- Excellent working knowledge of MS Office

- Functional / Analytical / Communication Skills:

- Working experience in building supply chain models such as Production planning and Queuing, Inventory Optimization, Resource allocation, Routing optimization.

- Develop an in-depth understanding of business needs to provide effective solutions.

Experience & Qualification:

- Recent PhD or master's degree in a field linked to Operations Research, Industrial engineering, statistics, or economics, applied mathematics, computer science, or related field required, advanced degree preferred.

- Around 2-3 years of relevant industry work experience providing analytics solutions in a commercial setting.

- Prior work experience in a global organization, preferably in a professional services organization in data analytics role
