Overall purpose of role :

- Reference Data VP role is responsible for managing all Reference data functions across the various teams that are located in the GSC Mumbai site and also provide global management cover for the US timezone.

- The purpose of the role includes managing process performance in line with agreed SLA and targets, driving a culture of continuous improvement delivering high quality service, and maintaining effective working relationships with key stakeholders and customer business areas.

Key Accountabilities -

Key specific accountabilities.

- The role holder will ensure all processes have appropriate and consistent measures in place and that all Key Risk and Quality Indicators evolve in line with the growth of the business. They will implement productivity measures and set benchmarks, appropriate to the team's knowledge and capability, and ensure that all service level agreements are maintained or improved upon. They will ensure robust quality measures are in place.

- The role holder will be responsible for the identification and implementation of continued process enhancements designed to streamline the closure process on behalf of our transferring clients, without degradation in service. They will streamline all similar functions, eliminating duplication, highlighting and reinforcing best practice and ensuring consistent measurements and service delivery.

- Sets stretching objectives for self and team and delivers against those objectives. Leads, motivates, and develops team to create a high performance culture and enhances the knowledge base, skills, talent and capability within the teams. Demonstrates effective use of performance development, shares best practice, identifies successors, and develops a culture of coaching and development.

- Communicates progress against plans, achievements, challenges and encourages feedback. Ensures that the teams have the correct training and tools to undertake their duties to the highest standards, delivering a world class service to Barclays clients.

- Responsible for recruitment of staff and ensuring that all new joiners undergo standard training on products and processes

- Stakeholder management and leadership.

- The role holder will manage relationships with key stakeholders from both Infrastructure and the Front Office to ensure a seamless and excellent customer service, always ensuring delivery of key service metrics and constantly developing performance.

- The right candidate will possess strong leadership and people management skills, as they will be required to lead a team. The successful candidate will also be required to ensure the consistent management of succession planning, training, management of under performers and the development of high performers.

Risk and Control Objective

- Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Barclays Operational Risk Framework and internal Barclays Policies and Standards.

- The role holder will ensure the very highest standard of risk control is adopted throughout their team and all relevant policies and procedures are adhered to.. All breaches, near misses or risk events will be managed and escalated where necessary.

Person Specification -


Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications:

- Educated to a minimum of degree level or equivalent supplemented by relevant professional experience within the financial services industry including industry recognised qualifications.

- Minimum of 10 years of relevant instrument and/or pricing data maintenance experience gained in a similar organisation, global market data vendor or third party vendor supporting a similar process.

- Demonstrable experience of managing medium-large teams (25+) in a Financial Services organisation with strong leadership skills

- A detailed understanding of security asset attributes (eg. equity, fixed income, structured products, funds, and derivatives) and financial products.

- Advanced MS Excel and MS Office skills with an advanced understanding of databases and data analysis tools.

- Must possess knowledge of Data Vendor such as Bloomberg, IDC, Reuters & Telekurs

- Strong communication, presentation and negotiation skills in order to manage the relationship with stakeholders & clients, fluent in English.

Preferred Qualifications/Experience -

- Postgraduate qualification or equivalent industry experience

- Knowledge on Client, Account and SSI related reference data

- External certification, PMP, Lean Six Sigma
