Barclays - Fixed Income Surveillance/Compliance

Job Purpose:

Trade Surveillance is part of the wider Compliance function. The purpose of Trade Surveillance is to enable system and controls (both manual and automated) which cover the universe of trading activities at Barclays. These systems and controls will track indicative market abuse and misconduct.

The AVP will be responsible for overseeing the Trade Surveillance Mumbai team to ensure analysts are conforming to protocols and to assist in tactical and strategic build of APAC and Global Trade Surveillance Book of Work.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Management

- Manage and Lead a growing team of Trade Surveillance Analysts in Mumbai

- Have worked experience of running teams and establishing new surveillance systems and controls

- Be a point of contact for hiring and bringing on board the best candidates (when headcount is available)

- Have oversight of current live alerts which the Trade Surveillance Analysts review and ensure they are adhering to protocols

- Ensure the Mumbai Trade Surveillance team is engaged. Establish rotations to up skill-sets and exposure.

- Undertake management oversight of the more junior members of TS Mumbai and play an integral role regarding Analysis, Escalations, Investigations and Management Information

- Have a grasp of all Front Office asset classes and be able to demonstrate and relay knowledge to junior team members

- Be dynamic on spotting the next risk and come with solutions on mitigating that risk

- Play a key role in the enhancement of the APAC and Global Trade Surveillance strategy

- Play a key role in the rollout of new build/buys

- Build rapport with Compliance colleagues by setting up periodic meetings for feedback loops

- Build key synergies with the business. Partner, but remain independent.

- Build good relations with Compliance vendors.

- Maintain up-to-date knowledge to Products, Regulations and Exchange rules and be able to relay these dynamically to the Global TS team

- To be pragmatic and dynamic (e.g. Identify enhancements)

- Possess advanced technical and practical knowledge of market abuse/misconduct

The business would like to see a person with strong fixed income background/ WorkExp preferably including FI Surveillance

Strictly Fixed Income Surveillance or Fixed Income Compliance/Front office/Middle office experience is required.
