What will you be doing?
- Being a trusted advisor to internal clients: discover and help formulate business needs, and agree how data science can bring value
- Identify where it is appropriate to, and implement, Data Science techniques to solve complex business problems
- Identify and source project dependencies such as data, documentation, infrastructure, stakeholder commitment and experts' input
- Hands-on delivery and communication of analytical output in form of actionable business advice, internal or user-facing solutions, tools and data science artefacts
- Take ownership of key initiatives to deliver results through an Agile workflow
- Manages own workload, but is able to deliver projects through virtual teams where appropriate
What we're looking for:
- Experience of hands-on delivery of analytics or data science to discover commercial opportunities, improve product, design & measure business initiatives
- Strong user of SQL and a scripting language (Python preferred) for data manipulation, modelling and workflow automation
- Ability to manage complexity and uncertainty to independently discover opportunities, offer solutions and drive business conversation
- Understanding and ability to convincingly articulate trade-offs between analytical approaches and individual models
- Practical experience of creating customer segmentation models, and/or running customer targeting
- Experience of statistical analysis techniques
Skills that will help you in the role:
- Fluency in open-source toolset for distributed computing, e.g. Apache Spark to write efficient and robust ETL pipelines
- User of SDLC workflow: version control, tests, documentation, has bias for simplicity
- Knowledge of underlying principles of standard ML techniques, e.g. loss functions, optimizers and hyper parameters
- Understanding of IT environments, administration, policies and processes and being able to independently resolve technical problems
- Extensive analytic experience preferably within financial services products/segments, digital or Telco.
- Experience in creating business models, both financial and consumer behavioral
- Experience in using innovative customer analysis to identify commercial opportunities
