Job Description:  The Principal Data Scientist (PDS) will be responsible for handling all things related to Analytics function - Long term strategy, ideation, execution, and complete & independent ownership of all Data Science initiatives  - BankBazaar (Alexa India rank: 204) is India's leading online financial products marketplace, funded by Amazon.com Inc., Sequoia, Fidelity, Walden International, and Mousse Partners to the tune of USD 80+ million. A total of 44 million people visited the website in Jan-Mar 2017 quarter. These millions of visitors leave a ton of data on the platform. And it is growing at a massive pace. The PDS's primary job will be to make sense of all this data   - The PDS is expected to mine through and discover insights hidden in the vast amounts of data that we have built over the years, and help the Business make smarter decisions to deliver even better products   - The PDS's primary focus will be in applying data mining techniques, doing statistical analysis, build recommendation systems to drastically improve on our cross-selling capabilities, build credit score models that will help us assess customer risk, and build systems for automated fraud detection   - This will be a high visibility role that will entail working closely with the Senior Management and a number of functions (Product, Tech, Credit Policy, Customer Service, Business Operations, Account Managers, Campaign management, and Category management)  - The stage is set and the paraphernalia is waiting. We are looking forward for the magician to come and perform his magic   Responsibilities:  The PDS's responsibilities fall broadly under the following areas:   - Using insights from data, to make the customer experience better (product flow, offers seen, recommendations made) on all mediums of the BankBazaar platform (website, mobile site, mobile app)   - Using insights from data, to improve cross-sell metrics to BankBazaar's past customers & visitors; How to increase customer LTV (Lifetime value) and repeat purchase behaviour   - Build lead prioritization models so that the Customer Service and Business Operations teams- productivity improves  - Using data from all the sources that we have, build a comprehensive credit score model to assess customer risk profile   - Manage a team of data scientists spread across Bengaluru and Chennai   Qualifications:  - 6+ years of experience with at least 4+ years of experience working with large data sets or do large scale quantitative analysis  - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Math, Physics, Engineering, Statistics, or Business Management with preferably one of the degrees from a premier engineering, management, or statistical institute  - Expert SQL scripting  - Expertise in modern advanced analytical tools and programming languages such as R or Python  - Expertise in data mining algorithms and statistical modelling techniques such as clustering, classification, regression, decision trees, anomaly detection, recommender systems, sequential pattern discovery, and text mining  - Basic understanding of statistics - hypothesis testing, p-values, confidence intervals, regression, classification, and optimization  - Solid communication skills: Demonstrated ability to explain complex technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences.
