Bank Compliance Operations Manager - Fintech Startup (4-6 yrs)

Our client is a Palo Alto - US based, Neo banking, fintech startup that offers borderless banking to global affluent customers. It helps global citizens, irrespective of where they live, gain access to a U.S. bank account. Their vision is to be the first truly global consumer bank by leveraging the latest technologies. It has partnered with Mastercard to enable global citizens to use a single app to bank and invest overseas. Company is expanding rapidly and will soon offer banking services in Canada, the United Kingdom, and Australia. Mantra is security, safety and exemplary compliance with Indian and U.S. regulations to ensure customers finances are secure and account is FDIC-insured, i.e. backed by the U.S. Government.

Location: India, Bangalore (MONDAY TO FRIDAY- REGULAR DAY SHIFT)

Education: Bachelors Degree required

Experience: Minimum 5 years of regulatory submission experience required


- Ensuring compliance across processes, procedures, product, customer complaints, servicing, KYC/AML etc.

- Maturing existing processes and introducing new ones

- Coordinating between backend vendor partners

- SWAT Team to solution

- Building internal servicing

- Coming up with ideas to improve and streamline operations, lower cost and improve efficiency

- Ensuring B-O Ops performance (tracking, monitoring, training as needed, etc.)

- Manage company's regulatory and compliance obligations

- Actively engage with and act as the point of contact for bank partner, regulators, state auditors, and regulatory partners

- Maintain and continuously improve record-keeping processes

- Monitor, advise, and lead the implementation of all relevant regulatory rule changes

- Continue managing and developing a comprehensive regulatory compliance and risk framework

- Forge strong relationships with regulators and their representatives, and continue to keep the organization abreast and prepared for any up-and-coming regulatory changes

- Direct anti-money laundering compliance program and ongoing change management and process improvements

- Provide leadership to the organization for the Customer Identification Program, KYC - Due Diligence process, AML Transaction Monitoring, AFC and OFAC Sanctions

- Coordinate and lead compliance training for all employees for core areas

- Advise business teams on compliance and risk

- Business experience interacting and working under international regulatory regimes, particularly Europe

Required skills:

- Banking compliance departments

- Ability to take a business view of compliance without compromising on managing risk

- Can handle real-time emergencies and lead RCA and solutioning

- Experience in cross-functional compliance

- Can build a team - hire, train, manage, motivate, evaluate, etc.

- Creating business requirements for automating and building systems for tracking, reporting etc. and managing roll-out

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

- Creating systemic documentation of processes and procedures, tracking of compliance issues, reporting to the bank,

- Review product, marketing compliance

- Hardcore compliance orientation

- Compliance certification, degree

- Experience as hands-on participant of a financial services firm's compliance program

- Experience with Anti-Money-Laundering/Bank Secrecy Act (AML/BSA), The USA PATRIOT Act, Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC) sanctions compliance

- Understanding of Cybersecurity regulations and experience with privacy laws, including General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR)

- Strong leadership skills, including demonstrated strength in building compliance teams/frameworks, project management, experience working on process improvement and the ability to manage multiple, conflicting priorities

- Ability to write executive and board ready reports, business presentations, policies, procedures, and operating guidelines

- A self-starter mentality with the ability to work flexible hours and perform well under pressure

- Curiosity and a passion for FinTech including working knowledge of cryptocurrencies
