- Primary objective of Downstream Segment Marketing Manager (SMM) is to continuously work on maintaining and further improving market share of defined Segments. He will ensure desired Top Line and Bottom line is achieved every quarter and annually.

- He/She is an "End to End" owner of identified Segments in term of (Revenue, Stocks, Profits, Portfolio of both products and customers)

- SMM will constantly keep watch in economic development happening in target application segment and create a data bank of meaningful information and insight.

- SMM will constantly interact with people within lighting industry and gain meaningful information and insight on customers, projects, investment, wins and losses of major businesses. Also on competition moves, their products and promotions.

- He will conduct market surveys, customer visits and collect Voice of Customers, Dealers & Retailer for consistent update on market reality.

- Above data is further processed and shared with strategic partners such as internal sale team, channel, and to Upstream Marketing team to constantly keep the portfolio in most competitive shape for immediate and near future.

- Segment Manager along with PM, participates in strategy planning exercises. Derives a near term and midterm plan for his target product and application segment.

- SMM makes sure he offers a complete product portfolio solution to target segment irrespective of Products involved. He will also initiate NPI buy in critical cases where our portfolio is not able to provide quick solutions.

- SMM keeps a tab on market activity in "Marco- level by engaging in investment information, market trends, technology development, etc. And at Micro level in term of tracking tender pricing, competition moves, retail audit, customer audit etc.

- SMM is an expert in his target segment in both technical as well as commercial aspects. He would help Sales and BD team in term of getting "right" focus, enabling them with as would be required help in cracking major business deals, supporting them technically and commercially in improving market share for the segment.

- SMM would have to extensively travel in branches and market to ensure we are winning.

- Segment Manager will devise short term tactic based on long term strategy to get some early wins. He need to provide solutions to FIELD with agility to be a winner in given situation.

- Segment Manager creates a success in product by constant product promotion via effective communication, campaigns, demos, samples, seminars, road shows, exhibitions, trade shows etc.

- Effective Marketing communication is key to success for PM. He will devise and implement cost effective communication strategy in both online and off line medium to all the stake holders of the business, thereby creating vibrancy around the product portfolio.

- Trade promotion and media implementation: Prepare media briefs (objective, media, target, cost etc.) and share with agency partners, monitor the execution and evaluate the outcomes vs objective. Conceptualize trade promotion schemes and identify and negotiate with vendors.

- Understand scope for new products/variants vis-a-vis target market/geography/segment and provide brief to PD team.

- Segment Marketing Manager will support sale team in strategic price management in major volume business, ARCs.
