Business Analyst/ Sr. Business Analyst - Business Intelligence & Analytics

Location: Gurgaon

Job Description

Drive business strategy and planning through high quality data mining and analysis. Our goal is to put our customers at the heart of our business planning and decision-making process by harnessing best-in-class analytics and research methodologies. We are looking for an accomplished analyst, who is at ease with consulting and recommends appropriate approaches and communicating the insights.

To be successful in this role, the candidate should also be a strategic thinker with strong analytic skills and a passion for our business. The candidate will work closely with internal stakeholders, both in India and across the globe.

The overall responsibility will be to help drive core business results through delivery of strategic and tactical research insights grounded in a solid understanding of each business area. This will include the following:

- Analyse business performance for our global classifieds group.

- Develop insightful analysis about trends and their strategic implications.

- Prepare effective presentations for C-level audience. Develop story lines, collect data/input, visualise and make complete presentations

- Conceptually design, execute and embed analysis that support strategic planning and decision-making with external sources and internal analysts.

- Manage qualitative and quantitative studies in a structured way, suggesting areas of improvement and identifying opportunities / threats based on internal and external data sources, market trends and user behavior in an effort to strengthen efficiency and provide strategic direction.

- Work with business units to design and implement strategic initiatives, which will drive acquisition, activation and retention of users based on identified trends and insights.

- Generate strong stakeholder engagement, in particular by:

- Developing stakeholder learning plans for key categories with the objective to deliver business results.

- Co-owning and helping drive department's progress towards its targets.

- Proactively identifying insights needs.

- Promoting approaches that involve customer immersion elements where possible.

- Communicating insights in a compelling way, through presentations and workshops where appropriate, to generate increased ownership.

Education, Skills & Experience:

- High Potential with minimum 2+ years data mining, analytics or Business Intelligence experience.

- Experience in a top-tier strategy consulting firm (BCG, Bain, McKinsey) is a strong plus.

- Experience working in C2C/classifieds industry is a strong plus.

- Experience with web metrics and customer lifecycle funnel (Acquisition, Activation, Retention, Resurrection).

- Strategic thinking and detail orientation: ability to see the forest, and also diagnose a tree’s health.

- Comfort with ambiguity and frequent context-switching in a fast-paced environment.

- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal. I.e., whether in PowerPoint or an elevator pitch, you need to translate complex concepts into layman’s terms and influence both peers and senior leadership. This position will work directly with senior leaders in the organization and will be tasked to communicate complex technical findings in an easily digestible manner

- Extensive Excel skills. Experience building statistical models and scenario planning is a strong plus.

- Experience with SQL, a major software engineering language, or any major statistical package (ie, SAS, R) is required.

- MBA or technical/quantitative master’s degree from a top-tier institution is required. (Or equivalent work experience).

- Excellent analytical skills - ability to understand and interpret data within the context of the business - solve problems and distill data into actionable recommendations.

- Demonstrated ability to work across cross-functional teams; independently and proactively

- Intellectual and analytical curiosity – initiative to dig into the “why” of various results

- Desire to learn new technologies and grow analytical skill set

- Comfortable working across multiple timezones & tight deadline
