Azure Solution Architect - FMCG - Contractual Role

ROLE PROFILE :

Job Title : Azure Solution Architect

Reports To : Analytics Product Manager

Context/Scope : Company has created an end to end Data and Analytics Centre of Excellence to support our growth agenda, while delivering our productivity ambition. Our mission is to accelerate business performance by providing advanced business insight via new and evolving analytics tools, technology, and capabilities.

As part of the CoE, the Technology & Development team focuses on :

- Delivering and sustaining analytics platforms and solutions that provide actionable insights

- Empowering stakeholders to analyse and understand information

- Providing deep expertise on technologies, data, and processes needed to uncover and deliver insights.

We deliver analytics solutions through an Agile, Product led approach. We are organized accordingly into teams around the Products that we deliver to the organization. The Analytics Solution Architect supports all aspects of Product delivery, including requirements, design, build, testing, deployment, sustaining, and optimizing solutions.

There are seven product teams in the Analytics Technology & Development team, organized by business and technology functions. Each team is globally diverse, with team members and stakeholders around the world in the different regions and time zones.

This role is expected to liaise and work with company's IT partners and technology vendors to build the correct competencies. The role will require on-site presence and may also require global travel.

Dimensions :

a) Financial : While the role does not have direct financial responsibility the resource is expected to have a fundamental grasp of financial concepts and will work with their line manager to ensure that departmental and project budget goals are achieved.

b) Market Complexity : The AT&D Team has a global remit so work across all company markets is in scope of this role. As such, this role will be expected to adapt to any number and variety of markets within company. This can become complex given different route-to-market structures, different systems and different data sources.

c) Leadership Responsibilities :

- Responsibility within this role spans the technical and business strategic change requirements for their function/process. The post holder will be expected to take decisions that are in line with overall DEO strategy, but also ensure that the needs of the market/business are clearly met.

Purpose of Role :

The purpose of the role is to support solution design as part of an Agile scrum team focused on the delivery of analytics Products to our markets, functions, and Centre's of Excellence. This role will shape and steward the overall vision for how the components of a solution integrate into a unified solution and the roadmap for how the architecture of the solution evolves over time.

The candidate should :

- Be experienced in the implementation of global information & analytics projects

- Have functional domain knowledge relevant to their Product area.

- Have strong systems design and reporting/analytics experience.

- Be fluent in English and multi-culturally aware

- Demonstrate outstanding collaboration ability in a global setting

- Be quick to grasp complex business and technology problems, driving them to resolution.

- Typical analytics projects range from - 50K - 2M. Products will be used by several thousand users around the globe. Due to the nature of a global role, flexible working hours is key to coordinating activities within different time zones, while global travel may also be required (up to 25%).

Top 5 Accountabilities :

1. Execution of projects and programs to deliver analytics products (applications, platforms, and solutions) to markets

- Drive architecture and solution design as part of an agile scrum team

- Act as a communication channel between technical and business facing teams, including Enterprise Archtiecture. Drives escalation when necessary.

- Evaluate technical costs for implementation of solutions. This includes assisting in the creation of business cases for all capital spend relating to the analytics architecture

- Can build effective WOW within the CoE, and with BRMs, Application & Technology Services, and our partners to deliver integrated solutions that maximize value.

- Demonstrate deep personal accountability for great performance

2. Deliver solutions as part of a high performing agile scrum team

- Define an architecture for a solution consistent with the requirements of the solution and the overall Enterprise Architecture.

- Build up a feature backlog of technical stories.

- Ensure all team members understand the stories and the definition of done

- Assist in the design of the overall solution

- Define functional and non functional requirements

- Define testing strategies

3. Provide technical though leadership for their domain

- Partner with other Product Manager, Business Relationship Managers, and Solution Architects to define a multi-year roadmap for the evolution of analytics capabilities in a specific functional domain.

- Understand and optimize the financial impact of analytics solutions on markets that leverage these services

- Actively seeks - best practice- from external sources in both the application of process and technology and uses to benchmark or provide stretch to our own processes and design.

Qualifications and Experience Required :

- Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Statistics, or similar

- 4+ years experience acting as an application or solution architect in the analytics / business intelligence domain.

- 4+ years of experience with multinational companies (preferably CPG) or IT consultancy companies in relevant analytics solution delivery demonstrating a progression of leadership roles.

- Demonstrable execution experience with the relevant technologies including MicroStartegy, SQL Server, PowerBI, Azure Data Factory, HDInsights, or similar.

- Demonstrated expertise delivering analytics solutions in a global enterprise environment

- Demonstrated expertise delivering solutions involving different categories of data (structured, semi-structured, unstructured) and different models of information (entity, event, etc.)

- Demonstrated experience championing, designing, and implementing innovative solutions to problems.

- Fluent English, Great at working as part of a cohesive, integrated team

- Experience in the relevant functional domain preferred (i.e. Supply, Finance, etc.)

- Outstanding collaboration skills at all levels of the organization

- Attention to detail is key, inquisitive & questioning nature

- Strong problem solving planning/ organising, highly detail conscious

- Quick learner who exhibits resiliency and tenacity in the face of challenge
