A critical component of the role is to understand financial planning processes and models to forecast revenue, balance sheet, expenses and capital.
The team will be supporting across the following 3 areas:
- Governance
- Framework
- Model Inventory
Responsibilities:
Model Inventory - Support the NY Lead in the following:
- Manage Model Inventory Attestation and monitoring processes by ensuring satisfactory introduction of new models.
- Provide advisory on Model/Non-model Assessment process.
- Facilitate consistency in Model Sponsorship across MS, MG, MLE (Central FP&A or Businesses for EUCs, ICAAP, Treasury).
- Facilitate on Follow-up Actions from Inventory Attestation.
- Provide quantitative (Financial Forecast) Assessment for completeness.
- Provide qualitative Assessment covering different Model lenses.
- Establish Model/Non-model Assessment process (Implementation of consistent Model Definition across Quantitative and Qualitative Areas).
- Provide assessment of unexplored modeling areas including Treasury, IPV / Valuation Adjustments, Enterprise Valuation, Vendor Models, AI/ML model Objects.
- Coordinate Training Implementation with MRM using LMS
- Design Model Reviewers Qualification
- Establish consistent Model Review Process for internal review, EUC review, Systems Review,
Keyword Search-based review
- Review & Challenge Charter, Scope, Responsibilities, Participants, Frequency and Escalation
- Streamline MRM Data Quality Template
- Facilitate consistent practices of documentation, request for policy dispensation, compensating controls and overlays.
Governance - Support in the following
- Establish the 1 Line of defense (LoD) Model Governance Forum's Charter, Scope, Responsibilities, Participants, Frequency and Escalation path to Peer Committees (e.g. MRM & Senior Committee).
- Manage and mitigate 1LoD model risk and maintain model hygiene.
- Engage with all Finance Functions (Treasury, Tax, Controllers, Financial Analysis & Planning, Capital Planning etc), and Key Stakeholders.
- Actively facilitate timely stakeholder responses for Model Risk Management activities.
- Evaluate, improve, monitor and assist in Reporting to Senior Management, Committees and Auditors, as needed.
- Report Model related Current / Emerging issues and mitigations.
- Design Committee Presentation Templates and Dashboard Reporting.
- Assess and Report on Finance Model Risk Appetite.
- Govern issues centrally and Monitor Path to Satisfaction (Green).
- Coordinate the remediation of Finance-wide Breaches and Dispensations.
- Proactive Management of Model Risk by establishing and executing Monthly Reporting Dashboard for Key Areas.
- Capture and report Model Performance Statistics for OPA threshold breaches
Framework - Support in the following :
- Establish Framework for consistent application of Procedures & Guidelines across Finance Organization.
- Oversee adherence to MRM processes, controls and compliance with model governance policies and procedures.
- Provide user training for Procedures & Guidelines
- Establish Model Strategy for Quantitative/Qualitative Model Development Centralization.
- Prepare Quarterly Inventory Confirmation for BAU Quarterly processes i.e. Business Planning Models.
- Coordinate Quantitative Assessment for downstream/upstream models
- Participate in regular Management Control Assessment (MCA) Process and Qualitative Model Oversight.
- Establish Finance 1LoD Control Framework and perform regular Controls testing across Model Life Cycle.
- Provide Centralized coordinated feedback for MRM P&P Revisions.
- Facilitate MRM discussion for consistency of MRM practices.
- Provide advisory on Optimizing MRM requirements and scope.
- Provide coordination for Audit/Regulatory Reviews/Controls Exams.
- Response to Audit/Regulatory Reviews/Exams.
- Coordinate remediation and closure of Audit and Regulatory Issues.
- Liaison with other Policy Teams as required.
- Participate in CCAR, Capital Planning Process and Business Planning process as required.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 8 - 13 years of relevant finance/business/accounting/MIS experience in financial services along with demonstrated experience working with technology to build software solutions for Risk, finance and/or front office solutions.
- Degree in Economics, Finance, Engineering or technology-oriented disciplines
- Financial statement/product knowledge.
- Business Analyst skills with some program management and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated analytical skills, including the ability to synthesize quantitative and qualitative models.
