AVP/VP - Alternate Investment Fund & Strategic Initiative

The position is based with a Large Financial Group in Mumbai.

1. JOB PURPOSE:

(Briefly describe the general purpose of the position or its significance from the organisation's point of view and how it contributes to the overall mission/objective of the organization).

- To take responsibility for the identification & execution of specific strategic initiatives of Financial Service group in order to achieve the overall objectives of diversification, asset management and return on equity (RoE). To anchor the execution (evaluation & implementation) of new concepts/ Strategic Initiatives/ Business Models - these could include any/ some/ all of the following:

1. Single/ Multiple new Business Models - Alternative Investment Funds (AIF)/ Investment Trust / Overseas financing vehicles / Feeder Fund structures.

2. Equity investment by external investors in a - Yieldco- or a portfolio of operating assets

- To contribute towards conceptualisation & development of structured (financial) products, with the overall objective of optimizing returns and matching cash flow requirements.

Activities:

1 To anchor the execution (evaluation & implementation) of new concepts/ Strategic Initiatives/ Business Models - these could include any/ some/ all of the following:

Single/ Multiple new Business Models - Alternative Investment Funds (AIF)/ Investment Trust / Overseas financing vehicles / Feeder Fund structures

Equity investment by external investors in a - Yieldco- or a portfolio of operating assets

- Understanding the regulation & taxation aspect of financial services

- Understanding of equity valuation metrics & methods

- To coordinate with international consultants (Taxation, International Law)

- Preparing the Financial Model for the new Business Model/ financial structuring to optimize RoE

- Preparing the Business Plan for the Board of Directors for seeking approval for the new Business

- To support Group Head in developing policy framework for the new business/ entity

- To support negotiations with investors (domestic and international) for accessing funds

2. To contribute towards conceptualisation & development of structured (financial) products, with the overall objective of optimizing returns and matching cash flow requirements.

- Understanding the regulation & requirements of law for innovative financial products (i.e. Companies Act, Income Tax Act, RBI/ SEBI/ IRDA/ PFRDA guidelines)

- Understanding of the working of hedging products/ options / FRAs & their pricing & limitations

- Understanding the requirements of credit rating of innovative products

- Ability to negotiate term sheets (with investors) and credit ratings (with rating agencies) wrt the above products

Financial Dimensions

(These should be quantifiable numerical amounts like annual budgets, project costs, annual revenue, purchase value etc.).

- Aggregate estimated profit/ return/ financial projections of offshore entity are confidential; expected to be approved by the Board of Directors of the group in 2017.

- A broad figure of asset size could be around Rs. 5000-10000 cr for the offshore entity within a period of around 2-3 years.

4. SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

Educational Qualifications and Experience

- MBA with 6-9 years experience

- Preferably (relevant experience in) investment banking/ consulting/ MNC bank

- Experience of single point responsibility with respect to initiating, negotiating and executing/ closing term sheets

- Ability to network at diverse levels with clients / investment banks

- Experience of handling & mentoring subordinates / teams

- Experience of handling consultants & technical advisors / third parties as a single point responsibility

- Diverse experience of working across groups / locations

- Understanding of regulations / regulatory guidelines/ Business Plans

- In-depth understanding / expertise wrt at least 2 PPP / Infra sectors

- Understanding / experience of structuring financial products / innovative thinking

- Understanding the larger / big picture / objectives & strategic issues associated with new initiatives

- Communication skills of a high order
