Assistant Vice President- Strategic Business Change Manager.

Role Purpose

- The purpose of this role is to successfully shape and execute against CMB's global strategic change agenda.

- Strategic Business Change Managers would - collaborate with the Business on the need & nature of change to leverage the opportunities and manage the challenges in the industry.

- The role holders would be instrumental in helping and driving the business to come to well-reasoned decisions in matters of strategic, organisational, operational and technological investment. They would work with the Global Functions & external vendors to create, shape, deliver & embed sustainable change successfully i.e. 'landing' strategy within the business through unified execution capability

- They would have proven experience of successfully shaping and executing against a global business strategic change agenda. The role holder needs to be an energized, ambitious and high performing change agent who will lead the scoping and delivery of global strategic change projects with the business. The role holder is expected to be a 'trusted advisor' to CMB senior management with whom they are partnered by identifying opportunities, constructively challenging conventional thinking, ensuring the Voice of the Customer is embedded in projects and then working to shape, prioritise and drive the execution of their change needs with a focus on delivering the desired customer, colleague, operational and financial outcomes.

- The role holders will need to be conversant with all facets of the change process including co-creating business cases and justification for initiatives, initiation of programmes, designing an approach and plan, defining the business architecture, project management, business analysis, readiness and implementation needs as well as ensuring project outcomes and benefits materialize. They will need to be well informed about emerging technology and innovation how this can be applied to solve challenges and improve the quality, efficiency and effectiveness of the Bank's proposition and customer and colleague experience.

- They will be accountable for the timely and high quality delivery of programmes, adhering to HSBC core frameworks (Business Transformation Framework, Agile). They will be responsible for managing programme costs, headcount, risks and issues and will work to ensure benefits and values are realised

Principal Accountabilities:

Value Creation

- Influence and collaborate with stakeholders and business partners, building strong relationships to ensure consensus and influence change outcomes. Foster open and honest communication which anticipates stakeholder expectations.

- Work with executive management across CMB and key stakeholders (Compliance, Audit, Finance, HR etc.) to constantly challenge - perceived wisdom

- Develop solutions/TOM/Business model and to recommend, achieve buy-in for the recommended solution/business model and its implementation approach

- Analyse current state legacy solutions/operating models against target model to identify gaps and opportunities to support an effective transition towards the target state

- To manage the change & its execution and to ensure monetisation of benefits.

- Provide direction to Business Analysts & Project Managers to collectively shape & deliver the change effectively

- Influence and obtain buy-in from senior management and stakeholders for programme plans, commitments, changes including requirements, quality assurance plans, budget, schedule, scope, risk mitigation and contingency plans.

Operational Performance

- Responsible and accountable for the delivery of highly complex and business critical change effort in accordance with existing industry best practices and methodologies, in the process establishing credibility for the Strategic Business Change team

- Proactively monitor areas of concern and risks within the project / programme and provide recommendations to mitigate them to ensure SLAs of delivery are met

- Promote adherence to project/programme governance model and use defined standards and tools for processes such as risk logs, change control and resource requests

- Act as a Line Manager to Strategic Business Change Consultants & Project Mangers/Business Analysts engaged in the programme

- Set the pace and operating rhythm, driving a culture of high performance, achievement and ensure pace by identifying and removing barriers to programme success.

- Demonstrate financial acumen to develop a global business case, including investments, detailed benefits and link to overall finances of the business.

- Ensure adoption of relevant frameworks and methodologies thus driving a common high performance approach and that an Agile approach to change is fully embedded within key change programmes

- Ensure governance processes and decisions are applied consistently

- Contribute to the active management and rationalisation of CMB's change portfolio, ensuring prioritisation is based on risk/return, resource availability/skills and rigorous commercial criteria

- Manage, measure, and track change impacts as a result of the programme/project

Capability and People Development

- Build collaboration between change teams, the CMB, Operations and IT, sharing good change ideas and ensuring change work is recognised across CMB

- Act as a role model to foster a collaborative team environment which supports and encourages professionalism and development.

- Promote a positive work culture within change team based on respect for people, integrity of actions, creativity and collaboration leading to increased productivity

- Drive a performance management based culture to manage and improve performance, including effective management of underperformers and contributing to calibration processes.

- Continuously support capability build of the Strategic Business Change Consulting Practice i.e. through sponsoring and advocating community events, sharing relevant articles / studies / ideas, ensuring regular development and sharing of Global Transformation consulting case studies etc.

- Promote the value of challenging the status quo, seeking to improve ways of working and having a forward-thinking mind-set, in line with the Group's values and strategy
