Role
To lead the overall project planning, scheduling, monitoring, resource allocation, project accounting, and control from the concept to the commissioning stage, while coordinating with various agencies (internal & external) and ensuring all compliances for project development within timelines, cost and with adherence to all quality control requirements.
Key Accountabilities
Overall Project Strategy & Implementation:
- Formulating a strategy for planning, budgeting, monitoring and execution of project activities in logical steps and budget time required to meet deadlines.
- Understand the requirement of the project and ensuring its completion as per the industry standards. Report the progress of the project on day-to-day basis to hydro-head and periodic updating to management.
- Finalization on Project Contracts, Contract Management and ensuring adherence to Project Contracts
- Independent P&L responsibilities for the operation of plant post commissioning.
- Responsible for regulatory aspects, power sales, etc. related to operation of the plant including statutory requirements and Legal issues
Internal and External Stake Holder Management:
- Lead and develop various internal teams of finance, legal, HR, IT, Planning, Quality Control/Assurance and C&C to ensure timely completion of the project.
- Ensure the overall compliance related to contractors and sub-contractors. Liaison and build relationship with various government agencies (state & central) for smooth implementation of the project.
Adherence to Compliance:
- Understanding the local laws and governance for complying with it.
- Also, adhere with the mandatory compliances as per project structure like Health, Safety and Environment, Quality Standards and Internal & External Audit Compliances
Team Engagement and Development:
- Regularly interact with the project team for motivating and boosting the morale and understanding the issues/concerns of the employees.
- Ensuring high engagement & productivity levels of the team through various initiatives(Training, Rewards & Recognition, Team Building)
External Interactions
- Nepal Govt Authorities and Regulators
- Indian State/Central Govt. Authorities based on needs
- Equipment Manufactures and suppliers
- All major contractors and Contract Agencies
Dimensions
Financial Dimensions: Responsible for monitoring and controlling the project cost of Rs. 2500 Crores. Operational expenses as per budgetary provisions, Capital expenses as per the requirements of project
Other Dimensions: Interpersonal skills to develop a healthy rapport with all the finance heads including other stake holders and business heads
Organizational Reporting
Candidate Skills & Knowledge Requirements
- Should have deep all-round technical expertise on large (100 MW and above) hydro-electric projects - civil, tunneling, geology, dam works, electro-mechanical works
- Should have good grip on techno-commercial issues of such projects
- Should preferably have some international experience, having worked with non-Indian partners
- Should have proven track record of relationship building with all stakeholders
- Should be a good communicator
- Should be around 50 years of age
- Excellent Leadership Skills, Communication Skills, Strong Self-Confidence and smart presence essential
Educational Qualification: Engineering Graduates with Masters or MBA - from Hydro Construction Industry or similar roles
Relevant & Total years of Experience: 22 to 28 years of experience in similar Function in executing Hydro Power Projects in an international terrain.
