Purpose of the role:
The Assistant Vice President of Operation Risk Management is a key leadership position within our organization, responsible for assisting the CRO. The Operational Risk Manager is responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating operational risks within the organization. This role involves working closely with various departments to develop and implement risk management strategies and processes. The Operational Risk Manager will play a critical role in maintaining the integrity and stability of the organization's operations.
Reporting To: Chief Risk Officer
Key Responsibilities:
1. Risk Identification: Identify and assess operational risks across the organization, including but not limited to process, technology, and people-related risks.
2. Risk Assessment: Evaluate the impact and likelihood of identified risks and prioritize them based on their potential impact on business operations.
3. Risk Mitigation: Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies, policies, and procedures to minimize operational risks. Collaborate with relevant departments to implement these strategies.
4. Monitoring and Reporting: Continuously monitor the effectiveness of risk mitigation measures. Prepare and present regular reports on operational risk management to senior management and relevant committees.
5. Incident Management: Manage and investigate operational incidents and breaches. Develop action plans to prevent similar incidents in the future.
6. Compliance: Ensure that the organization's operations comply with relevant regulations and industry best practices related to operational risk management.
7. Vendor Risk Management: Assess and manage operational risks associated with third-party vendors and service providers.
8. Scenario Analysis: Conduct scenario analysis and stress tests to assess the organization's resilience to various risk scenarios.
9. Key Risk Indicators (KRIs): Establish and monitor key risk indicators to provide early warning signals of potential operational issues.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree. Master's degree or relevant professional certifications (e.g., FRM, CRM, CFA) is a plus.
- Proven experience in operational risk management, preferably in the financial services sector or NBFC or Retail Finance.
Experience:
Minimum of 12 to 16years of experience in Risk and Audit functions in Financial services Competencies:
- Strong understanding of risk assessment methodologies, risk modeling, and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with various stakeholders.
- Strong project management skills to lead risk mitigation initiatives.
- Proficiency in risk management software and tools.
- Attention to detail and a proactive approach to risk management.
- Highly effective interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and exert influence with and without direct authority with Senior Levels of Management.
- Solid organizational skills with ability and willingness to work under pressure and manages time and priorities effectively.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely to audiences of varying levels of seniority.
- Track record of delivering innovative and cost-effective solutions in a time critical environment.
