Legal a very strong and crucial function in the business and pivotal to its success.  Position Description:   - Drafting and negotiating contracts for the business by providing legal inputs and rendering services through the contractual process in all areas of the business including programming, talent, distribution, contests, licensing, syndication and acquisition of content.   - Provide contracting and legal support for new initiatives and special projects of the company.   - Minimize risk and proactively protecting the company's interest and assets. Provide litigation support and to manage outside counsel optimally in a focused, efficient and effective manner.   - Manage day to day responsibility for drafting accurate contracts, negotiating them with third parties on his/her own and concluding them in tight deadlines.   - To draft and negotiate any relevant agreements and any other relevant legal documents relating to commercial and contractual matters.   - To act as the day to day interface between the company and external counsel, briefing external counsels and attending hearings in the courts and other regulatory forums and government departments.   - To liaise with departments of the company in respect of commercial and contractual matters where appropriate to ensure that all relevant legal issues are identified and appropriate support is provided.   - To understand tax and regulatory structure of the company and be able to safeguard the company from exposure in the contracts.   - To assist in the development of best practice with regards to the legal aspects of commercial and contractual matters entrusted.   - To influence and assist in discussions between clients and other functions to ensure the best legal solution to meet commercial objectives and to encourage best practices.   - To provide regular reports and updates to line manager and to clients, as appropriate. Help mentor and develop talent.   Hiring Profile:  - Minimum 10 years post LL.B. from National Law School as an in house lawyer and/or in a reputed law firms. Else LLM or any other post graduate qualification in Law from a reputed institute/ institution.   - Excellent drafting skills with very good knowledge of contract law, arbitration and civil litigation; Strong familiarity with procedures in High Courts and City Civil Courts and drafting of pleadings.   - In-depth knowledge of the Copyright Act, 1957 and the regulatory framework. Hands on experience in M&A and business restructuring is preferable. Must have good exposure in handling IPR related policy work.   - Well versed in dealing with external law firms and negotiating and closing large value commercial contracts. Must be Mumbai based, or have worked in Mumbai in the past. Very strong communication, initiative and team playing skills.
