Role Title: AVP/ Lead AVP, Decision Sciences
Reporting To: VP-Analytics

Role Purpose (overall high level summary of the role)
- Modeling is one of the key functional areas within Retail Risk Management. This function owns the development and management of Basel2/ BAU models for within group.
- This role applies to the Decision Science job family and would encompass development/ management of models (BAU/ Basel 2) in accordance to the strategic direction of the Business area
- This role requires the incumbent to plan and execute the assigned projects/ analysis as per the agreed timelines and with accuracy and quality. This position involves direct people management (around 4 member team) responsibility along with project management responsibility
- Exposure/ knowledge of machine learning domain would be preferred
Principal Accountabilities Key activities areas
Projects & Analysis - Good understanding of business domain, functional goals, and the required technical expertise
- In-depth understanding and prior experience in Basel model development for retail business line
- Sees the 'bigger picture' and assesses relationships between recommended analytical solutions / projects and business performance.
- Makes decisions, even with ambiguous /incomplete data at a pace that balances the need for further analysis and the need for timely decision given business pressures / requirements.
Service Delivery - Ensure delivery of high quality analytical solutions for the existing clients / engagements.
- Support to develop a consulting culture within team that seeks out opportunities to expand & deepen relationships with existing clients
- Partner with functional business leaders in developing analytical strategies / decision making to achieve a higher value.
- Ensure customer satisfaction on all deliverables
- Translate key analytical solutions as generic and re-deployable across regions / countries
Operational Effectiveness & Control
- Ensure team's business delivery, system accesses, enforcement of compliance & business policies and people performance
- Support and execute cost improvement strategies
Leadership & Teamwork
- Manage a team of 3- 4 members and work towards enabling their learning, project execution capability, career aspiration and other developmental areas
- Develop and maintain relationships and work well with all levels of management.
- Inspire trust & credibility among team members, business clients and other stakeholders through highest level of personal integrity, and ethical behavior

Education / Relevant Experience / Other Qualifications
1. Bachelor's degree in mathematics/ statistics/ economics or equivalent; Masters degree is preferred
2. At least 8 years of relevant experience in banking analytics, preferably in the fields like Modeling, Credit Risk Strategy Development, Loss Forecasting etc.
3. Excellent communication skills with technical (the team) and non-technical (senior entity management in region) counterparts; being able to "translate" between the two worlds is the major thing in the day to day work.
4. Strong analytical skills with an ability to grasp new concepts quickly.
5. Good organizational, analytical, problem-solving and verbal and written communication skills.
6. Prior experience with modeling, strategy analysis and portfolio management would be preferred.
7. Prior experience in managing risk activities in retail lending is essential.
