Being in these locations also enables HSBC to leverage talent from the rich academic and start-up ecosystem to keep up to date with the latest in the industry.

Today, the GAC team generates value across the group through a wide variety of data and analytic solutions and related business consulting. GAC has become a one-stop shop for the group's analytic needs leading the integration of analytics and data-driven decisions not only in traditional areas such as Risk , Retail, Wholesale, Private & Commercial Banking but also in new domains such as Regulatory, Operations, Procurement, Human Resources, and Financial Crime Risk. It provides support to various business groups and the job involves data analysis, model and strategy development & implementation, Business Intelligence, reporting and data management.

There are primarily four job families in GAC: Decision Sciences, Information Management, Business Consulting and MI Reporting. This role applies to the Information Management job family within the Analytics function supporting various businesses and functions.

Principal Accountabilities and Responsibilities (e.g., for Business, Customers and Stakeholders; internal control environment, etc.)

Key responsibilities include some or all of the following:

- Manage and Support the build of insights and data assets aligned to business outcomes and strategic data models.

- Manage and support the gathering of detailed data requirements from stakeholders to deliver analytics use cases (e.g. triggers)

- Manage and support the delivery of analytics PoCs that allow our businesses and clients to identify new opportunities

- Manage and support the leveraging of current and emerging data and analytical techniques to address business challenges in an actionable way

- Manage and support the unlocking of opportunities to derive higher returns with improved Data Quality

- Management the uncovering of data inconsistencies across consuming systems

- Have a real passion for data and a commitment to shift the industry towards forward thinking data analytics

- Be keen to join the team to develop the Data Analysis and Business Intelligence Practice capabilities to support industry changing topics

- Candidate must be able to use business judgment & analytical tools in driving the best results for Global Business and Functions. Achieved through a combination of using data, analysis, brainstorming sessions and business judgment in identifying & leading new opportunities

- Enhance the existing advance analytics modelling, methodologies and contributing to new idea in methodology and modelling, machine learning algorithms and report visualization

Leadership & Teamwork

- Provides clear direction, prioritises tasks and monitors workflow within own area for a midsized team, or leads project delivery for complex assignments with supervisory responsibilities

- Provides motivational leadership, sets team performance expectations and monitors progress

- Overall responsibility for supervising a department or a business unit/area team, or manages delivery for most complex assignments

Qualifications - External

What you will need to succeed in the role:

- Atleast 8 years of experience with Master's degree or equivalent from reputed university with specialization in numerical discipline and concentration in computer science, information systems or other engineering specializations.

- Strong analytical skills with business analysis aptitude. Knowledge and understanding of financial-services/ banking-operations is advantageous.

- Good knowledge of programming tools, preferably with proficiency in any one or combination of SAS, SQL, Unix R, Python etc.

- Knowledge of Cloud Computing (AWS, GCP), Data Modeling, Adobe Analytics and or exposure to Data Quality assessment and control (IBM MDM, Reference Data Management) is a plus

- Exposure to BI and Visualization tools like QlikSense/Tableau is a plus

- Ability to comprehend intricate and diverse range of business problems and analyse them with limited or complex data and provide a feasible solution framework.
