Associate Research Technical Analyst - Quant Role - Private Markets Research Team

Job Description:

As a member of the Private Markets Research team, the AR Technical Analyst ("ARTA") is a unique opportunity to deliver wide-ranging data-driven support for RI's global manager research process. Reporting directly to the Head of Private Markets Research, this role will serve as a key support layer for a global team of senior analysts tasked with sourcing and underwriting best-in-class investment strategies. An ideal candidate will have a passion for data science and bring strong quantitative analysis, programming/coding, and business process automation skills to our due diligence process. Investment and private market experience as well as communication skills (written and verbal) are also desirable. This position presents the opportunity for future advancement into an investment decision-making role.

Years of Experience

Suitable candidates would have at least 3 years of programming/investment experience.

Qualifications/Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in mathematics, data science, engineering or a finance related field.

- Proficient in Python and SQL (R or C# a plus). Strong quantitative skill set with the ability to analyze complex data sets and execute advanced business processes.

- Skillful in using visualization tools to create insightful and actionable reports and dashboards for key stakeholders.

- Skilled in designing and implementing ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to extract data from various sources, transform and load into proprietary databases.

- Understanding of investment principles and asset classes is a plus.

- Ability to understand and use financial theory and tools.

- Excellent problem-solving capabilities and attention to detail.

- Strong verbal and written communication skills.

- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Special Requirements

Time zone flexibility to work with colleagues based in Russell's different locations globally.

Responsibilities

- You will play a critical business role supporting senior members of the private markets team gather intelligence, populate proprietary databases, process substantial information, generate reporting through applications to improve business processes, and to help deliver actionable insights.

- Data management and process development programming support for investment research

- Undertaking quantitative and performance attribution analysis of private market strategies (both open-end and closed-ended partnerships) across global buyouts, venture capital, real estate, infrastructure and credit.

- Adhoc data analysis: respond to spontaneous requests from stakeholders for specific data insights or reports, with ability to present results in a clear and concise manner

- Preparing supporting content for investment recommendations

- Creating investment content for internal/external use

- Liaise with members of the team to determine key priorities and objectives

- Drive ideas for process improvements
