Description of Role

- Global Analytics Centre (GAC) provides analytics support to various group businesses and functions. Typical deliverables include data analysis, providing analytics insights, model development, validation, calibration, strategy development, monitoring and reporting, information management and business intelligence. The deliverables form the basis for strategic planning by the senior management for businesses and enables effective decision making to satisfy business needs and requirements along with addressing unforeseen challenges.

- GAC Global Risk Analytics (GAC GRA) department within GAC is a dedicated service delivery wing serving Global Risk Analytics function across Group and regions. The team primarily provides analytical support in:-

Model development

Model validation and management

Portfolio (including stress testing and IFRS9) and decisioning analytics

Economic capital quantification

Policy and model risk governance

Financial crime compliance risk and regulatory compliance analytics

- This role within the Business Consulting job family will be responsible for supporting GRA policy and governance unit in the following capacities:

Overall model and analytics governance for GRA

Compliance of regulatory risk models with respect to global and regulatory standards

Implementing GRA model standards

Understanding the regulatory technical standards and interpreting the same for analysing the impact on wholesale credit and traded risk models

Policy impact analysis and conducting research on upcoming regulatory commitments and consultative papers published by regulators and industry (banking and finance) bodies globally like BBA, GARP, EBA etc.

Role Purpose (overall high level summary of the role)

In order to comply with regulatory requirements and to adopt global consistency, Global Risk Analytics function needs to continually adhere to changes in environment through different types of short to medium term projects from time to time as well as continue business-as-usual activities. The projects might include model development or validation, assessment of impact of certain accounting standards on a portfolio, creating infrastructural arrangement to cater to future analytics requirements or similar aspects. The incumbent will be responsible for the execution of assigned analytics projects and support the executive / senior management briefing aspects on progress, issues and challenges.

Principal Accountabilities: Key activities and decision making areas

- Support standardization and consistency of Global and Regional Model Oversight Committee (MOC) process and other governance forums

- Manage ongoing governance of audit, independent model review and management self-identified issues

- Sharepoint governance activities, production of other MI as appropriate

- Facilitate regulatory submissions and support the model compliance assessment framework

- Support of the on-boarding of all models into a central Group wide management inventory system

- Multitask on simultaneous engagements and communicate with multiple stakeholders across the Group and regions

- Work with the Group and regional teams to analyze the impact of new regulatory standards or policies and implement them while being in consonance with FIM and Audit recommendations

Customers / Stakeholders

Group and Regional stakeholders covering but not limited to:-

- Senior management in GRA

- BRCM, Audit, IT, Finance, Independent Review functions

- MOC, MMP/MPRF, SAWG, ManCo, ExCo forums

- CMB, Private Banking, Global Banking and Global Markets business lines

Leadership & Teamwork

- Promote collaboration with Group and Regional teams to achieve business objectives

- Engage with senior management, project owners and project sponsors as well as model developers, reviewers and approvers

- Thought leadership in spotting opportunities for closing the gaps with respect to current process, policy and framework

- Liaise with GRA colleagues across the globe and other functions/domains

- Participate in global initiatives as well as cross-risk projects

The objective is to develop consistent project management, governance and documentation practices which will drive consistency across the wholesale credit and traded risk analytics priorities.

- Maintains internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.

- The role would demand good knowledge and understanding of business, regulatory risk and policy, model risk governance, regulatory compliance and policy in addition to excellent written and verbal communication
