Associate - Investment Control - KYC

SUMMARY : 

The Investment Control Associate will report directly to the AVP of Investment Operations. This position will be responsible for managing all incoming KYC requests as well as assisting on various settlement, reconciliation and portfolio compliance tasks

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS AND ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES : 

- Respond to incoming KYC requests across all of Ares- business lines, working closely with internal legal, tax and compliance teams

- Develop best practices for responding to and tracking open KYC items

- Reconcile open loan trades between internal systems and Clearpar; work with outsourced settlements team to address breaks

- Review cash breaks related to bond, equity and loan settlements; work with outsourced fund administrators to resolve and clear

- Review portfolio compliance results after overnight holdings load; work with US-based portfolio compliance team to address passive breaches

- Assist with monitoring portfolio compliance results during London trading day for all European funds

- Work closely with US-based Investment Control team on various items related to trade administration, settlements oversight, portfolio compliance and amendment/corporate action voting

Education/Certification: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited University

Required Knowledge: 

- Strong knowledge of various investment types such as fixed income, bank debt, derivatives (i.e. CDS, IRS, PAS, Currency Options) and equities

- Strong written and verbal communications skills

- Proficient in Microsoft Office

- Knowledge of complex fund structures a plus

Experience Required: 

- 5+ years of experience in high-quality, global capital markets or investment management firms, with experience in KYC, portfolio compliance or settlements a plus

- Direct experience partnering with various business units to ensure operational efficiency

- Experience successfully developing an operations platform that is scalable and agile to accelerated growth and ever-changing needs
