Job Title: Public Finance Credit Analyst (Associate Director)

Location: Chennai

Position Description: The Public Finance Credit Analyst conducts detailed analytical research on Public Finance debt issuers and is responsible for an allocated portfolio. Mentoring of junior team members on public finance.

Major Areas of Responsibility:

- Publish timely, topical and high quality research on Public Finance contributing to the increasing profile of the agency within the debt capital markets

- Conduct analytical reviews with management teams of rated issuers and make presentations to rating committees, including rating recommendations

- Make logically argued analytical presentations to the management of rated issuers

- Ensure timely reviews/rating actions

- Communicate with various market constituents, including investors, issuers, bankers, regulators and members of the media, regarding the agency's rating rationales, analytical views and general market trends, to support India Ratings- brand building efforts

- Timely comment on different macro policy issues and data such as inflation, industrial production, growth, debt, deficit and trade.

Job Requirements:

- Strong financial analytical skills, including forecasting techniques, and an ability to identify key drivers of credit profile of states and urban local bodies

- Balance sheet analysis of State entities, not for profit institutions (educational and health)

- Ability to establish impact of global economic development on Indian economic environment - growth, inflation, deficit, current account etc. Linkages between different tiers of government - centre, state and local bodies

- Fluent English language skills (written and oral)

- Excellent communication and presentation skills to connect at senior management level

- A strong team player with excellent inter- personal skills

- An ability to integrate quickly into an established team and deal with colleagues and external parties with confidence and ease

- A self- starter and efficient time manager with the ability to handle multiple assignments on an on- going basis, with high productivity targets

Education and Experience: Post graduate in management (good understanding of economics) from reputed national and international institution. At least 7 years of experience in balance sheet analysis, economic analysis and forecasting, exposure to states, local bodies and state SPVs. Candidates with good publications and media exposure are preferred.
