Requirements:
- The candidate must demonstrate project management, leadership, communication, relationship building, analytical, interpersonal, multi-tasking and organization skills. A focus on quality and attention to detail is required.
- The candidate must also demonstrate advanced understanding of the principles of VAT and be able to guide the team in applying the same.
- The candidate will have responsibility to handle multiple countries within the practice assigned and therefore must have the ability to multi-task.
- As the candidate will work extensively with various technology tools, should show strong proficiency in effectively using computer / technology.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's/Master's degree required
- 6 to 8 years of experience of handling VAT / GST/ AP or AR exposure in Shared Services of large multinational organizations is preferred but not must
- Should be handling a team
- Proficiency with technology required (e.g. MS word, MS excel, MS power point)
Key responsibilities:
Practice management:
- Responsible for day-to-day operations of the sub service line or team/group within the Tax Service line
- Deliver work by consistently applying designated methodology, processes, standards and technology tools
- Ensures delivery on the Work Order with respect to turnaround, quality, handling workflow distribution, meeting volume levels, etc.
- Act as single point of contact for Users regarding service delivery and day-to-day operations
- Monitor metrics for service delivery, opportunities for improving customer satisfaction and implements appropriate modifications to process as may be needed
- Help implement strategic initiatives, as defined by Indirect Tax leadership
- Initiate discussion with Country Indirect tax leaders to train and share work with GTH team
- Facilitate change management, where required
- Interface with Operations Support Leaders to ensure effective and timely support for the sub-service line is received
- Proactively and timely identify operational problems and propose solutions. Escalate issues where required
- Represent and participate in seeing is believing initiates - Leader visits, Client visits, etc
- Familiar to management reporting - Dashboards, Quality Analysis, etc
Learning:
- Sponsors and ensures implementation of technical learning curriculum to the GTH professionals
- Taking the initiative to seek continuous learning opportunities such as coaching and mentoring feedback, key developmental experiences, self-directed learning and formal learning
- Helps define learning gaps and works with sub-service line leaders, Country learning liaisons, and local L&D to define and deploy a process to bridge that learning gap
- Fulfills role of instructor, as needed
Resource management:
- Sets the strategy for how work is assigned and performed. Works with resource manager to ensure the strategy is met
- Responsible for employee engagement & retention (based on tools, policies, practices provided by GSS/GTH People Team)
- Provides input regarding hiring goals. Participates in interview process, when needed
Performance Management:
- Provides informal and formal performance feedback for resources as appropriate
- Provides informal and formal performance feedback for Indirect Tax Leadership
- Manages the PMDP process for the respective sub-service line in terms of collating all feedback and initial ratings, and participates in round tables to discuss normalization, salary concerns etc.
A Tax Senior is expected to:
- Assist in sub-service line and engagement management
- Develop, mentor and supervise Analysts and Advanced Analysts
- Act as a counselor for Analysts and Advanced Analysts
- Proactively recognize issues and recommend solutions
- Proactively seek opportunities to diversify client load and exposure to different teams
- Foster collaboration and constructive communication within the team
- Demonstrate leadership and executive presence
- Demonstrate basic presentation and public speaking skills, while actively participating in meetings
- Communicate in face-to-face situations, by phone and via email, and determine the appropriate mechanism for communicating, given the situation
- Display general knowledge of engagement - big picture- and work towards obtaining appropriate certification
- Manage own and/or other's impact on project economics, including controlling costs, monitoring budget to actual differences
- Communicate progress and the project status to supervisors worldwide
- Take ownership of your schedule and proactively seek work when necessary to meet your annual chargeability goal
- Adhere to practice protocol and other internal processes consistently
- Tax Seniors typically manage teams comprising Tax Analysts and Advanced Analysts. The exact team structure depends on the size and complexity of the engagement.
