Position : Assistant Manager Accounts

- To oversee the entire accounts function & prepare accounts statements for internal decision making & improve internal risk control measures.

Detail Job Profile :

- The job holder has the overall responsibility of monitoring the accounting processes of FMCG Lanka and consolidating the accounts of the company. In this regard, the job holder has to co-ordinate with all the departments for the preparation of monthly accounts. The job holder has to review the transactions even at micro level sometimes to ensure their validity.

- These are all critical for the purpose of statutory audits and internal audits, which the incumbent needs to oversee at regular intervals.

- One of the main responsibilities of the incumbent is to determine the organization's tax liability and to plan and propose various tax saving methods. This is done by ascertaining the statutory liabilities of the transactions that the company enters into. The job holder requires consolidation of all gathered data and compiling the financial statements.

- Once the statements are prepared, the position holder decides as to how much could be the supposed tax liabilities and takes necessary action based on it.

- Also in the case of disputes regarding the tax claims, the position holder has the responsibility to ascertain the situation and provide his superior with the details relating to the claim.

- The job holder has to drive the organization by following up advances given to various vendor adjustments thereof so that there are no long pending unadjusted advances and the working capital of the company is effectively utilized.

- The job holder has to review the General Ledger and take appropriate action as may be necessary such as provisioning / writing off of irrecoverable assets and recognition of realized incomes.

- The job holder's responsibilities include preparation of presentation on the financial status affairs of the company presented to top management. The job holder has to issue statutory certificates for taxes deducted by the company.

- The job holder has to also interact with other external agencies like insurance companies for complying with the insurance of stock and other requirements of the company, tax consultants to understand the legal statutes, and tax authorities. The periodicity can be monthly, quarterly or annual depending upon the requirement.

- The job holder has to prepare the proposal for the annual budget for the department which need to be aligned with in the Company budget.

- The job holder is also expected to carry out learning activities like organizing knowledge dissemination and sharing discussions among the team members to enhance the efficiency of the entire department.

- The jobholder needs to have understanding of sales tax laws and Income tax laws apart from proficiency in accounting.

Functional Competencies :

- Process orientation : Review and enhance existing process, devise new processes, ensure appropriate control measure, prevent revenue leakage and improve operational efficiency.

- Concept of Financial Accounting : Know on Cash flow, fund flow, companies Act, Sch VI, Indian GAPP, FIRS, Accounts finalisation.

- Statutory compliance : Knowledge on Direct/Indirect taxes including maintenance of records, update data base coordinate with internal and external personnel, compile reports, prepare assessment details file returns and ensure compliance standards

- Knowledge on Industry practices : Bench marking on key metrics of competition like ROI, return on equity, debt equity, turnover and inventory days etc

- Budgeting skill : Gather expenditure/sales projections, monthly/yearly, develop Business Plan, gather and analyse expenditure, sales against budgets, point out areas of deviations, detailed analysis on variance according to requirements

- Group Finance Operations : Ensure maintenance of accounts; comply with statute/regulations such as RBI/IT service tax returns and assessments

- Book keeping : Reconcile records of financial transactions, reconcile and verify accounts, comply with statutes and regulations, review maintenance and update data, verify monthly accounts, follow up with departments and regional offices for error free maintenance of records

- Auditing : Coordinate with internal and external auditors, answer queries and clarify all queries, ensure compliance of systems and procedure
