Assistant Manager/Deputy Manager - Underwriting - BFSI

Role Description :

As a member of the Underwriting Team, this role is accountable for adhering to the provision of technical underwriting, referral management, support and guidance within the branch, for all portfolios, to enable the business to achieve targeted objectives.

Key Responsibilities :

Technical Underwriting :

Provide technical underwriting guidance and direction on Underwriting matters to Sales staff as well as Intermediaries. This includes case underwriting, acceptance of accounts and managing local referrals on the full range of portfolios and markets that SBI General are involved in (within delegated authority levels).

The function of this role has local branch accountability across :

- Scrutinising RFQs for acceptance

- Policy coverage

- Application of Pricing and deductibles

- Policy wordings, add-ons / inclusions & exclusions (Policy level)

- Maintaining branch underwriting MIS

- Liaising with the branch Risk management team

The person in this role should be involved in all aspects of the underwriting department within the branch.

Activity/Example :

- Scrutiny, acceptance, pricing and coverage of individual risks.

- Work collaboratively with the Sales & Marketing team to assess and underwrite new business opportunities.

- Act as the referral point for underwriters and Sales & Marketing staff within the branch

- Consider and determine appropriate actions for renewal business

- Liaison with the Branch Risk Management team and facilitate inspection of risks as per matrix.

- Graduate / Post Graduate

- LIII/AIII / FIII would be an added advantage

Desired Experience :

- This position holder should have broad knowledge that spans across all classes of business and an intimate knowledge of the operational environment
