1. Project Management capabilities: this is not the same thing as software development / coding expertise. For example, if I ask a person to walk me through how he would think through a EMR project as a Project Lead, he should be able to talk about the business needs assessment, vendor selection processes, project PERT chart process, change management, measurement of outcomes, etc. The mere fact that somebody has done SAP implementation does not mean he understands or can do project management. This is exactly the deficiency we have in the team currently and we need to fill this gap.

2. People Management skills

3. Learning agility: the person should have demonstrated the ability to learn new industries / business needs / technologies quickly. Either industry mobility or different roles in a large company are pre-requisites for the same

4. Strong business and outcome orientation: The person must not describe what projects he has done ; these are not achievements. He must be able to describe business impact and quantify business outcomes. For example, if somebody says he rolled out SAP, that means nothing. How did the company benefit ? This benefit should be in terms of reduction of headcount doing manual exercises, reduction in TAT for financial reporting, development of new MISs, etc

5. HIS (Hospital Information System).

Business Charter:

The Head of Applications is expected to manage complex Projects, programs, and/or a portfolio which are broad in scope, interdependent, high risk, and high impact, have long term implementation time frames and are cross functional. The Incumbent works closely with product owners, architects, engineers, vendors/partners, and line of business stakeholders to deliver technology solutions in support of organization's strategic and tactical initiatives. Primary focus should to manage control scope, timeline, cost, risk, and communications throughout the project lifecycle in accordance to organization's Project Development Life Cycle framework. The incumbent also work to constantly adhere, improve and govern Project Development Life Cycle practices within the organization.
