Role & Responsibilities  - Responsibility to handle indirect tax including GST, Customs and erstwhile excise and service tax  - Represent the company in front of tax authorities/ DRI for all audits, investigations, assessments, appeals   - Compliance review of all existing transactions over a period of time and suggest changes in processes wherever necessary  - Understand and respond to all technical queries from operations team related to indirect taxes  - Guide transaction processing teams on their queries related to transaction implementation  - Coordination and interaction with consultants across all locations in India  - Review returns and ensure the completeness, accuracy, timeliness of return - suggest suitable improvements in the existing processes, if any   - Track latest developments / changes in indirect tax laws and implications and initiate changes in internal processes if necessary  - Review and guide team about preparation of schedules of balance sheet items related to indirect tax - suggest any changes or improvement in existing format  - Work closely with finance and operations team to identify and resolve all indirect tax related matters  - Proactive suggestions about compliance of indirect taxes  - Suggest tax compliant tax saving measures to operations team and help them to modify the processes accordingly  - Effectively work with top management team of the company  KPI  - Complete ownership of indirect taxes including litigation pending at various appellant authorities/ DRI  - Provide support to all operational units within the company and plants  - Complete audits and assessments from various tax authorities  - Represent the legal entity in all tax authorities as and when demanded by authorities  - Train operational people and business services on various taxes or recent amendments  - Responsible for compliance risk assessment (review each commercial transactions from tax compliance perspective)  Knowledge (Technical / Functional)  - Indirect taxes - GST, customs, excise, service tax  - Experience of working in a team as well as working on own  - Knowledge of customs laws will be an advantage   - Interaction with external advisors   - Excellent people management skills both within and outside the organisation  Skills :  - Effective communication and leadership skills  - Team player and flexibility  - Pragmatic and analytical skills  Qualifications  - Chartered Accountant (preferable 1st attempt) or LLB & B.Com  Experience :  - 10-12 years post qualification experience  - Experience in Manufacturing Industry   - Practical knowledge of handling Indirect Taxes
