Analyst/Senior Analyst Profile - Big Data Analytics

Overview of Company Operations Analytics Practice

Operations Analytics is a premier analytics and digital advisory practice that's working with leading institutions globally to unlock new sources of value. Big Data and Advanced Analytics is the forefront of Operations practice with a continued push to drive greater client impact. This team has world class Operations Analytical experience with a successful track record of deploying Analytics across clients spanning a range of sectors. Team has ability to integrate analytical findings into the business solutions and quickly develop actionable recommendations tailored to client situations.

Responsibilities :

The Analyst/Sr. Analyst would spend significant part of his/her time working with the Big Data & Advanced Analytics group and consulting teams helping with the complex client problems in SO and other domains. For example:

- Work on client engagements, occasionally serve as a full-time member on client service teams at client locations

- Support development and maintenance of Tech Lab proprietary knowledge/databases and other knowledge development projects

- Contribute to qualifications packs and support creation of LOPs

- Coach and mentor junior analysts when appropriate

Knowledge & Skills Required :

We are looking for candidates who have demonstrated both a strong business sense and deep understanding of the Big Data domain. Candidates must also possess the following hallmarks:

- Excellent problem solving skills, including the ability to disaggregate issues, identify root causes and recommend solutions

- Good written and verbal communication skills. Fluent in both written and spoken English; prior experience in a multi-national environment desirable

- Energetic, cooperative and pleasant personality. Able to work with and coach effectively a diverse group of team members

- Flexibility, patience, and an understanding of fluid, demanding, and unstructured environments where priorities evolve constantly and methodologies are regularly challenged

- Ability to work under pressure and deliver on tight deadlines

Successful execution of this role will need high levels of technical and consulting expertise. Candidates should have exposure to some of the following areas with experience of working on at least one full project and ability to convert data analysis into client recommendations:

- Expertise with big data platform like Hadoop, Pig and Hive are preferred; knowledge of MapReduce or other similar archetypes are desirable

- Experience in processing large amounts of structured and unstructured data and analytics/mining. Enough programming knowledge to clean and scrub noisy datasets including text, speech and visual

- Programming experience, ideally in R with advanced applications such as building connection with external real-time data sources, R-Hadoop connection familiarity; open to other experience in similar programming languages like Python and MATLAB

Education & Previous Experience Required :

- Bachelor- s/Master- s/Doctorate degree (in Operations Research, Statistics, MBA, Computer Science and other engineering streams) with a strong quantitative underpinning, from a respected institution (e.g. IITs, NIT- s, ISI, MDI etc.) with an outstanding academic record.

- 1-5 years of professional work experience with a reputed service organization

- Deep expertise in handling Big Data

- Domain expertise in different Operations streams, Risk, Marketing & Sales or other similar domains

- Work experience in industries like Banking, Insurance, Telecom, Hi-Tech, Healthcare, consumer Goods and Transport & Logistics is desirable
