Analyst - Global Index Research - Fixed Income/Equity/Commodity Index Product

Analyst - Global Index Research - Bangalore Area

Looking for individuals with 0-3 years of experience into fixed income, equity and commodity index products. Bond indices includes the Emerging Markets Bond Index, Government Bond Index, Local Markets indices, EMU Index, Commodity indices, tradable indices.

Roles and Responsibilities for the Analyst involve assisting with all End-of-Day (EOD) and End-of Month (EOM) activities including:

- Working with members of the index team to price daily bonds and indices.

- Coordinating with traders and country analysts on a regular basis to ensure accurate daily and monthly basis to price and rebalance the indices

- Being on top of market activity - monitoring price volatility, being aware of new issuances/changes, and reviewing country ratings changes, etc.

- Data management

- Able to understand and explain price changes in bonds (the reasons for the underlying changes)

- Monitoring daily price updates and scheduled jobs throughout the working period. This includes following up on alerts, catching delayed runs, awareness of holidays/calendars, and ensuring a daily smooth run of index updates.

- Monitoring monthly updates with bond issuances/re-issuances, and tracking country debt stocks through Bloomberg/Central Bank sources to gauge size of markets. Liaising with country analysts/coordinators for monthly rebalancing.

- Follow up with internal teams with any client queries on missing data, price challenges, or file delivery set-up.

- Updating monthly performance stats and attribution in publication - reviewing monthly index performance, at the country, index, and sector level.

- The candidate should have good analytical, quantitative, communication skills, multi-task various tasks/projects, and is able to demonstrate a clear blend of skills. The candidate should be familiar with basics of fixed income securities and is eager to learn further about fixed income products.

- The ability to understand bond analytics is required in order for the candidate to perform the role adequately. These skills must be blended together with a high level of attention to detail to ensure precise, accurate and timely index level information for our clients.

Technical Skills:

- Prior experience using SQL to extract data from relational database systems and working with the results in Excel.

- Excel - able to use basic functions is a must, macros is a plus

- Experience with Autosys or similar job scheduling technology

- Familiarity with using Bloomberg and the Bloomberg excel add-in.

- Familiarity with unix and shell scripting, or other programming languages is a plus
