Structured Credit Trading - Analyst and AVP

About Structured Credit Trading Team:

- The Structured Credit trading team focuses on trading bespoke structured products and structuring specific solutions for clients. Using underlying credit instruments, including Corporate, Financial & Sovereign bonds, single name CDS and Loans, the team aims to create products that cater to the specific needs of a client. Within Structured Credit Trading, the business is split as liability (or financing) side business and asset side business.

- The Liability side business focuses on providing bespoke financing solutions to credit funds, FIs and banks against wide variety of credit assets - both on a recourse and non-recourse basis. The traded products are in the form of Repos, Loans and TRS. The Asset side business specializes in providing credit linked investment products to investors for yield enhancement. Typical traded products include vanilla and structured CLNs, repacks of liquid and illiquid securities and leveraged note instruments.

- Structured Credit team in Mumbai works with trading & analyst teams across the globe and supports the traders and senior management in pre-deal analysis, obtain internal risk approvals, build and maintain tools to help find trading opportunities and recommend trade ideas, analyze companies, track news and performing ad hoc customized analysis.

Overall purpose of role:

- The candidate would be working primarily with the US Fund Financing team supporting a team of traders with pre-trade analysis, assisting during execution of live trades, bookings and settlements to ensure smooth trade execution and closing.

- The candidate would also be expected to handle lender queries and maintain information flow for debt syndication & de-risking.

- He/she will produce business critical MIS reports, build and maintain tools to help find trading opportunities, track market data and perform ad hoc customized analysis.

Key Accountabilities:

- Provide high quality pre-trade analysis including transaction risk assessment, cashflow modelling and projections and evaluating financing trades across the capital structure

- Review 3rd party due diligence reports, prepare risk analysis material and summaries for internal purposes

- Assist in obtaining internal approval process for new transactions, support during closing and funding.

- Handle lender queries from potential syndicate partners and maintain information flow

- Liaise with the infrastructure teams on all operational aspects of trades (funding with internal desks, financing, manage trigger events, fixings)

- Assisting with financial statement analysis, credit and risk analysis on private credit and structured finance transactions

- Oversee risk, book keeping and trade management of existing and new trades

- Maintain a control environment at the highest standards in partnership with infrastructure functions including Risk, Finance and Business Management

Stakeholder Management and Leadership:

- The candidate would have to interact with counterparts in US. The candidate would have to work with the regional teams to understand the requirements, work with them to develop the new products and work on enhancements.

Decision-making and Problem Solving:

- The candidate is expected to exhibit high standards of understanding of risk, be able to think out of the box, has attention to detail and be sound in his/her decision making.

- Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Policies and Policy Standards.

Person Specification:

Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications:

- In-depth understanding of structured finance, private and portfolio financing transactions & risk analysis skills

- Knowledge/experience of working on debt syndication of financing transactions

- Research and fact-based approach with ability to reason decisions through and justify recommendations with key data points and relevant qualitative considerations

- Highly analytical, strong numeracy skills and experience in analysing financial statements

- Knowledge/experience of (rates, inflation, credit or FX) hedging associated with such transactions would be desirable

- Strong attention to detail, including ability to quickly conduct detailed historical data and credit analysis, & effectively 'scrub' data sets to identify any issues or errors

- Excellent communication and inter-personal skills. Fluent written and spoken English language skills are essential

- Able to work through tough deadlines in a pressure environment

- Strong team player with an ability to self-drive and run with tasks autonomously

- Aptitude for self-learning and collaborative mindset

- Proactive in nature. Should be able to take decisions and support those
