RESPONSIBILITIES : Leads the product development for Beauty/HC/PC products that are technically sound, meet quality standards and regulatory compliance for the global market and effectively meet marketing objectives by : - Formulating and designing Beauty/HC/PC products or modifying the existing ones that results in a product that meets consumers needs and aligns with business priorities - Understand the usage and functions of Raw Materials used in the category - Effectively interfacing with QA, Tech-Reg, Supply Chain, Clinical Research and Manufacturing to establish appropriate technical profiles of products. - Effectively partnering with Marketing and Consumer Product Research and other cross-functional team members to establish appropriate functional, aesthetic and product claims platforms. - Coordinating, documenting and interpreting data and technical outcomes of bench top and small scale experiments furthering the understanding of product or concept robustness in preparation for larger scale experiments - Developing standards and production specifications that enable products to be manufactured consistently and safely which meet quality and regulatory requirements - Maintaining and troubleshooting products in the field toward improvements to better meet design, function, processing, operation or sensory quality which enhances compliance or integrity standards - Partnering with Marketing and Sales counterparts to present and/or demonstrate products to the customer in support of key business strategies - Conducting and supervising early research that tests and analyzes the feasibility, design, operation and performance of product ideas, prototypes or concepts - Performing as a technical liaison with global partners, Marketing Affiliates and technical counterparts to enhance understanding of executing developments for the global market - Developing relationships with internal & external experts, vendors and collaborators toward idea generation and innovation which is applied to product development - Providing mentoring, coaching and support on technical programs and projects; may include directing the day-to-day work of technicians, lower level scientists/engineers, interns and/or contractors JOB SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES : - Strong background in product formulation development, to create new and novel products for cosmetics/Oral Care/Home Care application, including herbal/ayurvedic products. - Hands-on on raw material selection and good knowledge of major suppliers of raw materials - Background in the topical/dermal delivery/mechanism of action of ingredients/actives is preferred. - Wide-ranging knowledge of scale up and manufacturing and essential understanding about product quality and stability protocols. - Familiarity with national/international regulations around topical application products, such that capable to partners closely with Tech-reg to identify and evaluate novel and promising ingredients/technologies to be utilized in the development of new formulations. - Identifies emerging trends in the skin care industry both from a consumer and a scientific perspective. Scout for new technology opportunities that can be applied to the product innovation pipeline. - Write technical papers and reports and prepare standards and specifications for processes, facilities, products, and tests Education: B.Tech/ M.Tech/ B. Pharma/ M. Pharma/ B.Sc/ M.Sc Experience: 10 + years PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS : - Working conditions include common laboratory and Production environment exposure - Occasional Traveling domestically and internationally in order to meet job objectives
