This position is part of the Global R2R, Financial Accounting and Close organization and the position will report in to the Director - Financial Accounting &amp; Close. Key responsibilities of the position : - Engagement with Global teams managing accounting processes for transparency and governance of the manual accounting landscape - Lead &amp; govern initiatives for accounting standardization, automation and consolidation to continuously improve the financial close process - MIS, analytics related to the accounting landscape including entities/ processes managed internally and by other accounting teams - Managing financial accounting process across AXP including Month / Quarter/ Year Close Process - Ensuring compliance with agreed SLA, internal guidelines, accounting policies/ protocols and regulations including audits that are applicable from time to time ( AXP internal, USGAAP, ICET ) This is a people leadership position. The incumbent should have prior experience of leading a team of atleast 10-15 people and should be able to take responsibility for driving and managing a high level of Employee Motivation and Engagement. Candidate must be a go getter and should demonstrate the following knowledge, skills, and abilities: - Proven ability to govern and manage large scale change/ transformation related initiatives - Capability to think - Outside The Box- , offering alternate perspectives and solutions to increase productivity and significantly reduce cost of operations - Analytical capabilities to come up with business insights - Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks to meet tight deadlines - High level of professional maturity to respond quickly to all issues/queries - Demonstrated people leadership abilities with proven results - Strong interpersonal skills with flair for dealing with people at all levels - Prior experience of handling operations and accounting related functions including various audits and compliances - Strong accounting &amp; operations background, with good understanding of financial controls and focus on financial integrity &nbsp;Desirable: - Six Sigma Certification/Training - Understanding of Amex processes, systems, policies &amp; various AMEX finance practices will be a plus.
