Manager Strategic Relationship Group (Merchant Services)

Job Description :

This position will :

- Manage a portfolio of identified strategic accounts that include merchant partnerships across retail, online, airlines, lodging, telecom, car rentals, etc.

- Develop and implement transformational business building and revenue enhancement initiatives within the portfolio to drive Card Member spend and grow share of the business.

- Protect our premium and improve portfolio Discount Revenue through revenue expansion initiatives.

- Facilitate partnerships with identified key accounts and issuing partners across consumer and corporate products.

- Negotiate and deliver differentiated value and benefits for our Card products.

- Ensure growth & profitability within the portfolio

- Ensure 100% coverage in the portfolio of accounts.

- Provide inputs to and execute a strong Active LIF expansion focus.

- Drive merchant satisfaction through proactive relationship management, proactive consultative selling and charge volume expansion.

- Review and complete major merchant contractual negotiations

- Support direction of CLM strategies for accounts in the portfolio

- Establish relationships with key decision makers within the portfolio accounts and leverage these to formulate joint marketing programs and seek new business opportunities.

- Demonstrate clear understanding of key business drivers. Identify key industry trends, merchant needs, market developments and financial and competitor or commercial information to identify new business opportunities.

- Portfolio planning and ongoing management of accounts against plan. Set clear objectives define metrics and key milestones and track progress.

- Coordinate and work closely with including Central Marketing, issuer product teams, WS, MTS & PC and Regional CLM.

- Offer of employment with American Express is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background verification check, subject to applicable laws and regulations.

Qualifications :

- Minimum 9 years relevant work experience with post graduation/MBA or min 12 yrs total work experience.

- Prior experience in merchant-side client management and a strong grasp of the merchant services business.

- Knowledge of merchant-side operations processing and systems.

- Working knowledge of acquiring side asset monetization, de-risking and industry best practices

- Good working knowledge of the payments landscape and regulatory environment.

- Superior relationship management, consultative selling, communication and presentation skills.

- Strong team player with effective conflict resolution and negotiation skills

- People leadership experience required.

- Customer, industry, market and Amex product / operations systems knowledge a plus.

- Good project management skills and ability to drive results.

- High analytical and conceptual skills.

- Ability to use quantitative data and analysis to sell value.
