Function Description :

The CFR team helps drive profitable business growth by reducing the risk of fraud and maintaining our customers confidence in the security of our products. It utilizes an array of tools and ever-evolving technology to detect and combat fraud, minimize the disruption of good spending and provide a world-class customer experience. The team leads efforts that leverage data and digital advancements to improve service and risk management as well as enable commerce and drive innovation. CFR is responsible for developing and monitoring statistical models for predicting individual and commercial behaviors such as credit risk, fraud risk, spending and revolve. These models are used for key business decisions made across the customer life cycle to manage risk and accelerate profitable business growth. Underpinning our growth as a company are the tools and capabilities that ensure we prudently take and manage risk in a viable way.

Purpose of the Role :

- To support this exciting business, we are looking for an experienced risk professional who can be part of the 40-member Global Commercial Credit Risk Decision & Data Science team reporting into Vice President, Global Credit Risk Decision Science based out of Gurgaon.

Responsibilities :

Commercial payments is one of the 4 strategic imperatives for American Express within the Framework for Winning and there is increased focus to profitably grow the commercial lending (both card and non- card products) within our customer base. The incumbent is expected to partner with various decision science leaders (heading Credit Risk Modeling for different commercial portfolios) to drive innovation and elevate decision and data science for various existing/new products (Commercial Cards, Short-term Business Loans, Merchant Financing, Working capital loans etc) that American Express is growing rapidly across the globe

Technical Knowledge :

At least 5+ years Industry Experience with the following qualifications :

1. Master Degree in a quantitative field (e.g. Finance, Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science or Economics) or PhD or CFA level 3.

2. Expertise in Risk Modeling or Risk Management or Portfolio management of Commercial Products (Term Loans, Letter of Credit, Commercial cards, Business loans, Working capital loans, card or non- card short-term lending etc). 

3. Sound Knowledge of analysing financial statements of companies. Experience in fundamental rating/Underwriting commercial products to businesses

4. Should have sound understanding of commercial risk.

5. Working experience on dealing with commercial products for US or International markets and International Exposure is preferred

6. Knowledge on commercial data assets, commercial bureaus etc is an added advantage

Academic Background :

- Post Graduate in Statistics/Mathematics/Economics/ Engineering/Management
