JOB DESCRIPTION:

Growing consumer lending, by increasing balance share of existing customers, attracting credit worthy prospects, and developing new lending products, is one of the top priorities as AmEx mobilizes to drive near-term revenue growth and to capitalize on strategic opportunities over the moderate term. The Global Consumer Lending organization is responsible to evolve our portfolio with the aim of transforming the way we meet borrowing needs in a highly competitive and evolving landscape.

The Lending Economics team plays a critical role in building data led insights and integrating product economics across the customer lifecycle to drive incremental value through increased revenue and cost efficiencies. The team is at the core of creating analytical capabilities to understand customer level economics and ensuring these capabilities are utilized to improve both shareholder and customer value. This role represents a unique opportunity to leverage applied quantitative experience to directly shape business strategy.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Perform quantitative analysis to evaluate multiple alternatives to generate insights and derive recommendations to improve lending portfolio economics

- Develop and enhance the P&L forecasting models for lending card portfolios.

- Analyze CMV models, processes and inputs; support CMV inventory across customer lifecycle decision points.

- Build behavioral models leveraging statistical techniques, to understand customer behaviors and trends in key business metrics, e.g. ADB, AR, etc.

- Design program tracking and reporting tools, support team in creating presentations of results, findings, and recommendations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Master's degree in quantitative field (e.g. MBA, M. Econ, M. Stats) with one to three years of work-experience in analytics industry.

- Expertise in applied analytics (e.g. statistics or quantitative methods) for solving business problems.

- Competency in standard data mining and customer segmentation techniques such as decision trees, clustering, or neural networks, etc.

- Applied experience in Base SAS, SAS Macros, SQL in a UNIX environment; JAVA, PYTHON, R, PIG, HIVE etc.

- Experience manipulating large datasets, data mining and synthesizing databases; knowledge of Big Data platforms and programming.

- Ability to articulate complex theories, concepts, methodology and findings.

- Superior communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work in effectively in a team environment.

- Willingness to work in a team environment and to cooperate with multiple partners
