Amazon - Vendor Manager/Category Manager

Amazon's Kindle team is looking for an experienced professional based to help us continue to revolutionize how customers buy and read books. We offer a creative, fast paced, entrepreneurial work environment where you'll be contributing to Amazon's innovation.

The ideal candidate should have strong analytical skills, ability to execute a vision and manage operational efficiencies. You must be able to influence across multiple company organizations and have a history of delivering results. You will establish new relationships and strengthen existing relationships with publishers as well as internal stakeholders. You will be customer focused, entrepreneurial, a proven self-starter, and have the demonstrated ability to invent.

Within this Vendor Manager role, you will -

- Be an expert vendor relationship manager and communicator

- You will be a strong negotiator, able to continually work with vendors to improve our customer offering. These include securing content/books from vendors, owning profitability metrics and introducing new programs

- Understand the requirements of the vendors you work with and manage day-to-day relationship

- Work closely with leaders across the Kindle organization - locally and globally - in ensuring that we continue to develop new services and product offerings

- Develop innovative promotional strategy for your vendors and support its execution

Basic qualifications :

- An MBA degree

- Ability to negotiate with vendors and influence leaders both externally and within Amazon

- Strong communication skills and assertive abilities on all levels, while maintaining your ability to be vocally self-critical and seek feedback

- Business focused thinking, an ability to focus on key issues and a strong hands-on results driven mentality

- Special affinity and demonstrated skill with numbers, analyses and reports

- Excellent knowledge in Excel, and database work, with experience in SQL a plus

Preferred qualifications :

- Past account / distributor/vendor management experience.

- Professional experience in e-commerce, sales, marketing, purchasing, key account management or consulting would be a plus
