Amazon is seeking a highly analytical and resourceful Finance Manager to support our Inbound supply chain network. Amazon is continuously innovating on behalf of our customers to deliver more quickly and at lower prices. In this role, you will drive profitability and customer experience by directly impacting the development, planning, and execution of our Inbound supply chain network. The role will require quickly learning and fully grasping the business's economics to understand the big picture, gaining proficiency in our data to capture the right details, and communicating clearly and succinctly to effectively partner with business leaders and influence decisions.

This highly visible role requires a candidate with the leadership to influence senior stakeholders and steer business conversations to achieve great outcome for Amazon as well as its customers. They should demonstrate high standards and must exercise considerable judgement, drive strategy and tactical execution, and communicate (both written/verbal) at a senior executive level.

Key Characteristics:

- Good in developing strategic relationships with your business partners - you influence the decisions. You can root cause issues quickly and uncover core issues using data, then assist, consult with, and teach the business how decisions affect costs in their sites and create new mechanisms as they are needed

- Provide level-headed guidance during unexpected events

- Good in managing, evaluating, analyzing large data quickly to create meaningful business reporting

- Good in self-start and create direction in a rapidly changing and often ambiguous environment

Team Exposure: This role partners across transportation, fulfilment, supply chain, finance and technology teams to improve efficiencies while improving customer experience globally. This role works with business intelligence engineers, accountants, finance partners, data engineers, program and product managers. This role creates a "learn by doing" environment by engaging with business and technology to promote and encourage continued customer focus. You will anticipate and resolve bottlenecks while balancing business needs and escalating where appropriate.

Success in this role: The successful candidate has demonstrated the following : Good in developing insights using financial trend analytics, activity based costing, econometrics, and/or statistics. The candidate should have excellent verbal and written communication as the role requires heavy partnership with global teams. This role will work in a dynamic environment working with some of the world's largest data sets in logistics financials. As such, the finance manager must combine excellent business analysis skills and should be able to derive actionable insights for consumption across Amazon.

Key job responsibilities:

- Partner with Senior Managers and Directors to drive strategic initiatives and long term success

- Create, improve, and maintain business/financial metrics, reports and reviews

- Communicate financial and business results including variance analysis to senior business leaders

- Create, improve, and maintain financial models

- Deliver weekly/monthly financial close. Use financial systems and advanced MS Excel functions to work with large data sets. Prepare plans, forecasts, budgets, and consolidations.

- Gather analytical insights and develop financial frameworks that inform business improvement

- Oversee team responsible for reporting weekly, monthly, and quarterly financial and operational performance metrics, including financial commentary

- Help the company have clear visibility on the end to end Inbound supply chain starting from the vendor through the final storage location.

About the team : Transportation Controllership is a global finance team responsible for Financial Reporting and auditing activities. The FP&A wing of Controllership supports worldwide finance teams in establishing Financial Control Frameworks, Advance Analytics, structured reporting and data insights. We partner closely with transportation business units and tech teams as they work to continually refine and scale the business to keep pace with Amazon's rapid growth.

Basic qualifications:

- 8+ years of finance or a related analytical field experience

- 5+ years of advanced proficiency in Excel (pivots, lookups, etc.) experience

- 6+ years of applying key financial performance indicators (KPIs) to analyses experience

- 6+ years of building financial and operational reports/data sets that inform business decision-making experience

- 3+ years of creating process improvements with automation and analysis experience

- 2+ years of direct management experience

Preferred qualifications:

- 3+ years of participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results experience

- 6+ years of identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan experience

- 3+ years of working with senior staff (e.g. c-suite) experience

- Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (i.e. SQL, MSAccess, Essbase or Cognos) and providing recommendations based on results of ad hoc analyses to management for strategic decision-making

- MBA, or CPA

- Knowledge of SQL/ETL
