Head of Retail:

The Retail Head will be responsible for overseeing the overall operations of a retail establishment, ensuring its profitability, efficiency, and customer satisfaction. The incumbent will be tasked with managing staff, driving sales, maintaining inventory levels, and creating a positive shopping experience for customers.

Responsibilities:

- Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategies to achieve sales targets, increase market share, and enhance the overall performance of the retail business.

- Team Management: Recruit, train, supervise, and motivate retail staff, including sales associates, supervisors, and support personnel.

- Sales and Performance: Monitor sales performance and analyse data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement. Take corrective actions as needed.

- Inventory Management: Maintain optimal inventory levels by forecasting demand, ordering products, and managing stock rotation. Minimize overstock and stock outs.

- Visual Merchandising: Ensure that the store's layout, displays, and visual aesthetics are appealing and aligned with the brand's image.

- Customer Service: Foster a customer-centric culture by setting high service standards and resolving customer complaints or issues effectively.

- Financial Management: Prepare and manage the retail budget, monitor expenses, and implement cost-saving measures while maximizing profitability.

- Marketing and Promotions: Plan and execute marketing initiatives, promotional events, and advertising campaigns to attract customers and increase foot traffic.

- Vendor and Supplier Relationships: Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, negotiating terms, pricing, and agreements.

- Compliance: Ensure the store complies with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards, including safety and security protocols.

- Reporting: Generate regular reports on sales, inventory, and other key performance indicators for the senior management team.

- Market Analysis: Stay updated on industry trends, customer preferences, and competitor activities to make informed business decisions.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Retail Management, or a related field (a master's degree can be advantageous).

- Several years of progressive experience in retail management, with a proven track record of achieving sales targets and managing teams.

- Strong leadership skills, including the ability to inspire and motivate staff to achieve goals.

- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.

- Analytical mind-set to interpret sales data and make strategic decisions.

- Proficiency in using retail management software, point-of-sale systems, and Microsoft Office suite.

- Knowledge of customer service principles and practices.

- Familiarity with market trends, customer behaviour, and competitive landscape.

- Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and make quick decisions.

- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
